yes they did. countless times. ive seen forum ninjas post that it is "unfair glitch exploitation" countless times. just because you ignore the truth doesnt make it false.

as long as you get your butt right back down no its not cheating. assuming it really is an accident. which i assume you are lying about. ive NEVER accidently bounced more than like 3 feet off the ground

So you speak on behalf of everyone or something? I've superbounced on accident before. It's quite possible.

Lockout, burial mounds, midship. I can distinctly remember accidentally superbouncing ton those three maps with the intention of playing a normal game. Hell, the lockout one was even a double bouce.

no i dont speak for everyone. maybe accidentally super jumping is possible, but if you use it to stay up top then its still cheating.

"Many people are also aware of the "super jumping" phenomenon that allows players on some maps to jump to extreme heights. We are monitoring this situation for long term impacts to game balance but we are not banning people who do this simply because it's too widespread and is something that's basically built into the map. Anyone can do this if they want to though it is difficult to pull off in many cases. "

Err...It is a glitch. Bungie, as well as XBOX Live, have declared glitching intentionally while in an online match to be cheating. It is the same thing with Animation Interruption Glitches. They are cheating, yet they are unbannable offences for obvious reasons. The only to ban someone for glitches(at least in Halo 2) is to leave feedback.

(if I'm supposed to know the following, I apologized)
I dont know what is the deal with superjumps;
1. How do they work?
2. Were they integrated into Halo 2 on purpose?
3. Can you also superjump in Halo 1?

I started thinking about this when I saw a video in Youtube.com that shows a bunch of guys doing superjumps in the 2 new maps. And I thought that kind of thing was not supposed to happen in the 2 new maps. So then I was like, How did they know they can jump on that certain spot so they can support jump? They just seem to know where to crouch, and where to land and all that. How is this done? Did Bungie intend for this to happen? Are you supposed to be able to get out the maps?

okay you don't have to crouch and that i know of there are 3 in halo 1. I do know that superjumps are unintentional. They really are cheating you idiots out there. It cannot be left feedback for cheating though.

if you super bounce 'on accident' and land somewhere significantly out of the map. . . chances are you didn't do it on accident. . .

i have super jumped on accident though. . . i was actually pissed. . . i jumped down on acension to get the rockets and bounced back up. . . i was like WTF?! i wanted the rockets :( haha

Super Jumping in Match Making is NOT considered cheating....
That is right everyone, you heard it here! If you get banned from Halo 2 or XBox Live for superjumping, just tell them that Jumbo120788 said it isn't cheating and you will be unbanned! /obvious sarcasm

I cound have swore that I read those mini informative paragraphs that read crouch at the last minute to achieve a picture perfect super jump. I read it all the time. Are they reffering to somthing else?

That is refering to crouch jumping.

yes exactly, while bungie's banhammer wont ban u for superbouncing, those that are doing it are exploiting a glitch and is bannable through XBL's feedback system.Just like bxr and other glitches, if you have evidence of anyone doing this, leave feedback on them-Bungie has stated this many times.

  • 05.15.2007 3:26 PM PDT

Booyah!

I also have superbounced on accident on turf near the warthog, many times.I never made it out of the map though. It sucked cuz i had spawned near the medical tent and they had our flag(single flag CTF) so i ran up to get the brute shot, and started running toward warthog, i shot the flag guy and he was in critical and i jumped down to beat him down and jsut as i landed i shot up! I was like noooooooooooo! stupid superjump. It does happen though, whoever says accidental superjumps dont exist probably doesnt play enough halo then

Some examples of harmful activity that we do not permit include:
(vii) exploiting any bug, or making unauthorized modifications to any software or data, in the Service or particular game to gain unfair advantage in a game.

From the Xbox Live Terms of Use

Yes, it is cheating.

Yes, you can be banned from Xbox Live via the feedback system.

Also, if you get matched against a Bungie employee and they testify that you were exploiting the bug, you will be banned from Halo 2 matchmaking. Opposed to popular belief, many of us play quite often and Bungie will not hesitate to remove problem users from the matchmaking environment based on our observations.

Ninja 0n Fire/Jeremiah

Don't call them "glitches" - that's just a candy coated term and does not accurately describe what they are. They're bugs that alter the intended functionality of the weapons and gameplay.

What you do in tournaments on LAN is between you and your tournament organization, but do not advocate the exploitation of bugs being used in our matchmaking service. Whether it's superbouncing or interrupting weapon animations, just because we don't personally ban you for it doesn't mean it isn't cheating and extremely poor sportsmanship.

We only issue suspensions for modified content and network manipulation, Xbox Live administrates all other aspects of cheating or social issues.

When I see someone superbounce or use weapon exploits, I leave cheating feedback, I suggest you do as well.

I always hear that if I have evidence that a person has cheated to leave feedback, by evidence do you mean like a video of them doing it?

Nope. The Banhammer, which is how Bungie deters cheating, cannot ban someone for superjumping. The feedback system, in game, can get you banned or suspended from Matchmaking. Whether you use Bungie's or XBL is up to you.

That didn't answer my question. What you are telling me is that XBox Live will ban someone for superjumping while Bungie won't, and if so, how do you know this for a fact?

edit: oh, and if so how come all the bouncefx guys from the previous advertisement there aren't banned? lol
