you admited it inthe last post. microsoft is a monopoly. rember the court case a few years ago? they declared microsof a a monopoly, tried to break it up, but in the end... nothing realy happened.
just look at windows update:
in order for it to work, you must have microsoft internet explorer. Why? cause it's owned by the same company that makes windows, and because it's rapidly falling out of fassion. this is the definition of a monopoly.

there happy? someone agrees with you

actually microsoft being a monopoly can be disputed. a monopoly is not defined as making it so only your products work with your other products. a monopoly is a market where their is only one supplyer. last i checked more companies made operating systems than microsoft. the actual suit was an anti-trust lawsuit. they were being sued by states for business practices. the courts originally ordered that microsoft split but after an appeal the sentence was reduced. the new mandate was that microsoft release bits of their source code so software companies could make better products for the os.

Actually, Microsoft did sell some of it's company to smaller, anonomous computer companies.

Microsoft is not a total monopoly, but has such massive influence that it almost has the power of one. Im sure it could become a monopoly if given half the chance.

It has been given the chance, the chance has been thrusted and forced into Bill's lap, I think he is finally making his move in the OS arena, (Windows Longhorn) it is gonna be one fast son of a -blam!-, and they are also attempting to take a shot at Sony with trying to wipe out Playstation 3. The Playstation branch provides most of the funding for Sony.
