Here is a new interview with Halo 2 Vista project lead Jo Clowes, showing a tiny bit of new game footage (not much, mainly the menu is new) and talking about many things we already know about. When asked when we can expect the game to come out, she said "very very soon". I'm hoping she has a good sense of time because 2 weeks doesn't seem like "very very soon" to me.

(If you missed it the Games for Windows Live page has been officially updated to May 22nd)

Yes they said all along cross-platform gaming was coming to games for windows live, not halo 2. First game to support this will be shadowrun.

They stated not long after they first announced it (more than a year ago) that Halo 2 Vista will NOT be cross platform. Some windows live titles will be, however.

Sounds like they're pretty sure that they will make the May 22nd date. Hopefully they don't screw it up again.

"PC gamers are foaming at the mouth for Halo 2 Vista"? Correction--PC gamers are foaming at the mouth at Halo 2 Vista. (Thanks Btcc22.)

I've said it before--not many PC gamers care about a three-year-old console port, especially Games for Windows Live, which seems more and more unappealing to the common PC gamer as we speak.

Let me tell you one reason out of many why Games for Windows Live seems to suck:

Some of you have fifty-something aliases riddled with alt codes that you couldn't live without. On the Live network system, you only have one account. You could make more accounts, yes, but they are much more persistent and carry much more meaning than some in-game profile that doesn't follow you from game to game.

You want to use clan tags over Live? Okay. You can actually change the name of your account, if you want. At the price of 800 Microsoft Points, which is the equivalent of 10 USD. Oh, and you can only use letters, spaces, and numbers. That basically means something like 99.9% of clans in many PC games (not just Halo) can't put the same symbols (including alt codes) into their names.

Basically, making an account like MŧT£® KÌM is out of the question. Also, like Btcc22 mentioned to me, no [MAW], MAW~, MAW! or anything like that will be allowed. #amp-_Rhe7ør!c`, [TmC]¶Ñ§àÑit¥, CS[noscope_|.i+i.Reaper, MAW~P®A¥£Ř/«TUI»Sheepy! ۞, ˜S†àbúck$™, and an extremely high percentage of PC gamers will find this an inconvenience as they have to make a name with just letters, numbers, and spaces.

I suppose it's all for good purpose (i.e., it won't take you forever to input someone's name to send them a friend request or a message), but this is something many PC gamers would rather do without.

isnt it like: you have a account name, but you CAN change ur ingame name after you logged in?

I was thinking it would be like a Battlefield 2142.

You have a universal name(LIVE NAME) and then inside the game you would be able to manage multiple profiles(like Halo 2).

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

No you can't. That is the beauty of live. 1 name across all games on the live network.

Oh and Jo is good looking so she can say it however she wants. lol

Jo said that they are working very close with Bungie. Right but Bungie always tells it's not their project and they get tiny bit information from Hired Gun and so on.. why they say that :S ?
I hope really really soon is gonna be still month or less .

omg that really sucks tbh... bad for clans, bad for sponsors..

so there probably won't be a "pro/competitive-scene" in Halo2vista...

which means Halo2vista will be death within a year, since the "competitive-scene" ussually keeps a game alive... cuz "normal" players just play to have a bit of fun and when a new 'cooler' FPS game comes out they switch (like UT3/Quake Wars/etc.)...

what are you talking about you fool? do you know how competitive halo2 xbox is with all the MLG lans they got going on? and you say this because you cant customize your name? if you made an acount called lil jimmy and you joined a clan, and you wanted the clan name infront you can easily create a new account like zp lil jimmy if you cared that much..

FO dont call me a fool.. i know what i'm talking about since i ended 2nd in the Halo WorldWide tournament back in the good old HaloPC days (http://igames.org/tournaments/MiniNewsView.asp?MiniID=3&A ssetID=24).. and yes, i never played Halo2xbox... since im a PC gamer, not a xbox gamer, so i have no idea how that xbox LIVE namechange (add clan) or whats-so-ever works...

Isn't that exactly how BF2 works though? There are millions of players on that and none of them seemed to mind having "normal" names that you can't change.

(Although they did update it so you could add clan tags)

no im not bragging up about things, im just saying i know how it works... have a look at HaloCE atm, i think the number of players are 0 atm... only clans for the CB cup are playing it these days... look at UT2004 .. the only thing that keeps this game alive are the competitive players...

anyway, can't remember LOH... played against alot of clans these days so.. only clans I can remember are the ones i've been in, zP/TRB, forZe, e0...
