Sounds good to me!

So will Johnson throw 50 plasma grenades and get radiation poisioning in the book then?!

You'd have to be a SPARTAN to throw 50 plasma grenades before the first one explodes. Doesn't make sense to me?

Ohhhhh yeaaaahhhh! I cannot wait! I love the Halo novels, I can't wait to read one from Joe Staten himself!

Now this will surely shut all the skeptics about the Halo novels not being canon, because someone from Bungie did not write them (though they always told the writers what they could write...)

=)

#1 That was a coverup
#2 He may have Flood DNA purposefully put in him (Cortana detected in in FS), not Borens Syndrome
#3 He is a SPARTAN (Spartan-I)

No, there will still be some people who insist that the novels are not canon and that Joe Staten is just writing a fan fic and it really isn't official.

F O'C-
If Joseph has been writing the book, has he been writing Halo 3 also?

What about the flood?

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

To Staten,

Why is it going back in time? The book should pick up right where Ghosts of Onyx left off. It shouldn't jump around. That will only confuse the readers. I don't like this idea. Unless of course you find some way to make it a flashback. Infact, that would be awsome! THe whole story is a flasback! cool! You should do that.

Don't feed the monkey!!!!

I love the books. One of the many things that separate Halo from all other games. Fall of reach is my favorite because the game picks up right where the book ends, and the story of how John became a Spartan was amazing. The story would make a great movie. Good luck Joe, can't wait to read it.

In the book series it tells you that Sgt. Johnson had found a box full of Plasma Gernades and threw them all to save his neck.
The radiation from all the gernades scrambled his immune system and the flood infection forms couldn't match his immune system (wich is what they do)
so he basacilly can't be infected.
And no it doesn't take a spartan to throw 50 plasies.

Maybe Nylund will do the Halo 3 tie-in?

I think that the Johnson coverup and Spartan story is a little too much for an outsider, even someone as talented as Eric Nylund, to tackle while keeping it canon...

In a later book, it tells us that that incident was a fake, a coverup by ONI.

It is sposisble that he has Borens Syndrome. If he does, it has to be from some sort of Forerunner crystal (probbaly in Harvest).

Or, the reason he can't be infected is because he already has a substantial amount of (dormant) Flood DNA surgically implanted in him from when ONI (most definately) visited Halo many years before (would explain all the MP maps, and the "meddlers" 343 GS mentioned in CftU), giving him regenerative abilities and immunity from the Flood, as well as superhuman strength.

This explains why he appears to be in his thirties when, in fact, he is, at the minimum, 67 years old (though more likely being 75, as he would not be drafted into a top-secret program in his first year in the UNSC)

Also, HGN says he is a SPARTAN-I, so he is a Spartan ;)

A lime a day keeps teh scurvy at bay.

Google the Hunzas, mate. ;) They are one of about three communities in the world where people exceed the average lifespan, and look half the age they really are when they finally croak. Maybe Johnson's just got the goods, eh?

on-topic: I'm so bloody-well psyched for this. And up-coming Comics, too... If it's quality, I'll be diving right in. Halo's one of the best "mass-marketed" fiction pieces out there. Keep the excellence in hand, Bungie, and I'll be there all the way. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

I hope it is better than Ghosts of Onyx, which is definitely the "Halo 2" of the novel series.

Yay! GoO is the Awsome sequal to the previous (but also awsome) books. xD Ghosts of Onyx was well done, and had a good ending you entitiled to you opinion, but it sucks. ;) Ghosts of Onyx had a good storyline and elaborated on the happenings of the other spartans and just because it's not directly realted to the immediate story line doesn't mean it sucks. Great plot/character development and great settings. Joe's book elaborates on thing that where happening while the Spartans where doing other thing in The Fall of Reach, or so I beleive. :)

I don't agree. Ghosts of Onyx was unnecessarily cheezy. All that "Zen no-thought" crap wasn't necessary at all. Fans of Halo don't need to be convinced of how badass the Spartans are. More subtlety = better.

All right, another HAlo addition. The universe is so awesome I have a hard time keeping up with it. Any chance of a Halo Timeline book, or The Halo Encyclopedia. No? Oh well, maybe just halo Wars then.

p.s. whats with all the underlined words?
