Subject: You are missing a map required by this playlist.

Hi All,

I received my Xbox360 console today , it was repaired.
So i wanted to play Halo2 on Live! . When i choose optimatch and like Team Snipers i get this error : You are missing a map required by this playlist.
I thougt maybe i need to re-download all of the maps except 2 new maps, i took 45 min. And i try't again but still the same error. Only 3 gametypes works : DoubleTeam,BigTeamBattle,TeamHardcore. The rest of them gives this error : You are missing a map required by this playlist.

PLS HELP !!!!!! :(

I have the new maps. Even tried redownloading them and I still get the "missing map required to play" error. Has anyone encountered this after downloading maps and fixed it. I need to know how to fix it.

I think it is unfair how people already pay roughly $50.00 a year for a subscription to Xbox Live. Halo 2 was created where people could play on Xbox Live. Now they are restricting the matchmaking playlist on Xbox Live, unless you purchase the new maps. Sounds like a monopoly to me. Also sounds like a lawsuit. It really makes me want to cancel my Xbox Live subscription because I'm having to pay more to play on Xbox Live when I have already paid to have the access.

It's not a monopoly and if you read the back of the box / terms & conditions you'll find that they are allowed to terminate the online portion of a game if they give 30 days notice. As for XBL, XBL is just a matchmaking service and it's $50 a year (The price of 1 game?). These maps are only $4 and they will be free in july (I think...). So you can pay the $4 or wait.

I hate dial up

Your mom says HI

For goodness sakes. ITS $4 dollars. Cancel the subscription. I wish everyone would quit griping about it. If you don't like it then don't play.

Hi,

I am facing the same problem. I have all the maps and I paid and have the 2 new maps on my console since the 1st night they came out. Today though (I haven't played in a few days) when I go to matchmaking I can only play 3 of the playlists. This is bizarre because I have the new maps and I can go into a create party and play them myself.

Can anyone from bungie or other members comment why it is doing this.

Rgds,

Forgot to say, when I turned on my console it wanted to run an update. I don't know whether it was for halo2 but I'm guessing it was for the 360 just.

nah dude, what he is trying to say is that , it's wrong for them to FORCE us to buy them to play. which is kind of a low blow. i have friends on xbox live who can't buy the maps because they don't have there account on a credit card, or they have expired credit cards, and now they're completely -blam!-. the maps SHOULDN'T be REQUIRED to play, it can easily have a message that pops up when you are going to have 1 of the 2 new maps that say ' you failed to load the map'. there are other maps, not just the two new ones. what bungie is doing, is wrong, no matter if the maps were $1, $4, or whatever.

I redownloaded them and I can play the other matchmaking games. When did they reset the ranks?

<<EDIT Guess I should have read the sticky first >>

Thanks.

It may be "JUST" $4 bucks, but still...and griping about it on a forum is what forums are for...dur. $4 is beside the point...I remember back when they had released the new maps where you could purchase them ahead or you could wait till they were free. BUT, the last time they released maps for sale they did not lock up most of the matchmaking playlist like this time. Probably because the last time not many people cared to buy them and a majority of people waited till they were free like me - they didn't make any profit...So now it is almost like they are FORCING you to buy the maps to play. Kind of makes you wonder whats next? Charge a penny per game you play? But whats a penny, right?

You pay $50 a year to play hundreds of games. Not Halo. It's $4. You paid $50 for Halo when it came out. They are not required to give you new content for free. It is far from a monopoly. Do you know what a monopoly is?

oh cut the kid some slack, he just got his words mixed around. It's closer to entrapment, xbox live style. The argument isn't, whhaaaahh i pay 50 bux, now i have to pay 4 more dollars. It's "we already pay $50, now we have to pay $4 to get the full enjoyment for the online experience of a 2.5 year old game. If this was an actual marketplace download, people would realize this more. If you don't give them 4 bux, you can only play a couple game types, from what was once your choice, is now severly hampered.

i got a thread floating around here about what bungie should have done, how they should have handled it like they did the other map downloads.

I have a serious problem with company these days holding services/products I have purchased hostage until they get more money. I'm totally fine with them charging $4 for additional maps, but it should be an ADDITIONAL service/product not a REDUCTION of quality or feature! Bad business practice Bungie... You want to add maps and charge, fine. You want to create a segregate player base of have and have-not's, fine. But this is just plain freaking wrong. Sorry can't support what you are doing. Well, I'm all for consumers deciding what the market will bear, but this trend of business practice must be stopped. I find class actions lawsuits to be totally idiotic (only the lawyers win), but I hope someone sues you guys out of business. What a darn shame! You guys made good games, but got too gready. There's only one place for people using these business tactics... the unemployment line.
