According to http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2128055,00.asp only gold LIVE members have access to it. Is this true?!

According to the FAQ silver will have voice chat. The author needed to do a little more homework or not let his personal opinion get in the way of the facts in the article. He obviously had an agenda going into this article.

We have been buttraped by the evil forces of 40 year old virgins, once again. Or in other words, by Bungie. IF THIS IS TRUE.

whew. I think that article is pretty good though. I'm especially sorry to hear that you will only be signed into live if a game is open >:P
What do you people think?

I think I'd rather have my TeamSpeak.

Wouldn't using the in-game voice chat be a little more convenient though?

Indeed, that's why some games have built-in VOIP support which is nice and quite convenient.

Even games that have that, clans still use teamspeak/vent

What it is.

Except in game, when you die, you can't talk. So really, using TS would be the smarter way to go. But if you wanna talk -blam!- then by all means if you deserve it talk away in-game.

You know what, considering the recent events involving Bungisoft/Hired Microsoft Mercanaries, I wouldn't put it past them. Oh, other good news as well, guys:

Just FYI everyone, I'm dropping support for my FAQ.

Eh? That sounds like it's basically saying you need a product key to run a dedicated server... that makes no sense. And why even require a silver account? I don't get it.

Teamspeak is more useful for people that know each other and just want to talk to each other - espcially if they are on opposite teams. (I am assuming that the Halo2 ingame talk is audible for your team only?!?). But the in game version is SO MUCH easier for people who jump from server to server a lot otherwise you end up having 2 games talking to each other and no-one knows what is going on. :)

Mind you, TS would be more policable.... i'm not sure how it'll be playing and having "ohh wow i pwned you! you lose!! hahahahahaha! you suck. you iz -blam!-yyy!!!" in my earhole at 2 in the morning. :S

(Thinking about it.... i wonder if you really would get people saying "good game!" one after the other sixteen times at the end of every single game.... ohhhh gawwddd im glad it's delayed now!) ;)

Well, since I've played so much Halo 2 Xbox, I'm pretty tired of the old maps... so I'll mostly be playing on custom maps I think. Most of the neglected children who talk trash all the time will be playing "MLG" matches and getting their rank higher in matchmaking, meaning I won't be seeing them much. Woot for me!

If Halo 2 Vista supported a "mute" button, I would so give five-cents to each of the persons involved.
