I was playing matchmaking today, and two guys for no apparent reason decided it would be fun to follow me around and throw racist comments at me, and even more scary... they decided to threaten to "kill and r-a-p-e" my mom. They stated they were able to see my IP address and track my exact location. Ridiculous.

I do not know how they were able to remain in my party cause they are obviously not on my friends list. But everytime I would boot them (custom games) they would somehow re-appear in the game. I left them both several negative feedbacks, but nothing changed. They were both able to follow me around and continue their racist and other serious threats.

What can I do about this?? I have their gamertags and am prepared to do whatever it takes to follow this matter up. Please advise. Thank you.

Legend....................(wait for it)..........ary.

well first of all, i'd post their gamertags to spite them.

2nd of all, there's a party privacy option to where you set it to invite only. where only people that you invite can join you. after a day or two, i'm sure they'll buzz off.

Thats how I eventually got away from them. But still, its ridiculous that there aren't any further measures that can be taken. And these two were not two little kids either. It was blatantly obvious they were adults. Is there some place I can complain, or is this another example of "don't play then"?

Thanks. I wish there was something that could be done. A jokes a joke, but they took it too far. Went on for more than ten minutes. Calling me all sorts of racist names, and being very graphic about what they would do to my family.

can't let idiots like that get to ya. if it did, it woulda been best to take a break and figure out what's best. 10 minutes is much to long for that kinda stuff to be happening.

id say report them to bungie..its rediculous that someone is actually like that.i dont generally care what people say or do to me but if that happened i would be shocked.im sorry you had to experience that...but the only way i can say that would help is trying to find a way to report them to bungie.i know they have an email for cheaters but im not sure what catagory this would fall into,if it happens again u could always just mute them and change your party privacy

  • 05.10.2007 10:32 PM PDT

Don't hate me for playing a game...Hate me 'cause I read your email... Yes - right now - I am reading your email.

document as much as possible, use a video camera preferably, anything too prove this behavior and then contact the local police department if the level of stupidity is to much. they can deal with this ... I have for friends in the past done this with results nothing earth shattering but it stopped.

And that doesn't include the dozens of messages they kept sending me.

I am an adult, so I was really devastated, but more angry. Its ridiculous that people like this feel like they have the freedom to say whatever they want because they believe there are no repercussions. Thanks.

I just assumed they would stop sooner than later. I guess I was the stupid one for giving them the benefit of the doubt. I feel awkward about approaching the police about something like this. I was hoping that XBOX or Bungie policed their own.

You could try calling XBL Support about it. I've heard that you can report people that way.

Anyway, I know it must be weird to think about going to the police, but if they keep this up, you need to report them to the authorities. Some people need to learn that Halo 2 isn't a sanctuary where they can say whatever they want with no consequences.
It's horrible to realize how cruel and sick some people are.

They can't pinpoint your exact location with an IP, but they can get the general region you live in. You're safe.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done about XBL Jerks other than feedback :-/

these type of people are useually modders, they hack into the system and make people's game experenice horriable i have been in not that type of situation were they were able to follow me around because the other person is right just put your party to invite or closed that should work if you have there gametag's try to look at your stats page look up the games they did this and go under the cheating section of your profile page and there you can report them but give them as much info as you canyour tag and there tag's also the type of games and date time.and allow them to view your game page they will look at the gamees and see they were following you around.and if they feel it was a offense they will banhammer them both it work for me hope it will for you...srry about grammer i type to fast and suck at it lol

SunkenRelic I wouldn't say they're modders because........modding is about changing maps/code, not hacking the Halo 2 servers. I personally think the thread creator had these two on his Friends List (by mistake?) and didn't realize it, or more likely these people were in his clan and he didn't know. Clan members can follow anyone in their clan around as long as the party is open.

But yeah I agree with you on the part about leaving the Feedback. You can also call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and report them there.

uh, I dunno about that. if a video game gets to you so much that you call the police that's a bit absurd. but yeah, I would definitely say call the xbox live hotline that the guy above me just posted and report them

Is there something you don't understand here? By dismissing this as just a videogame problem -- and therefore one that he shouldn't take seriously -- you're missing the point.

He's a person, and he's playing online against real people. It's not the videogame that's getting to him so much, as you put it -- it's the people he's playing against in that game.

He's a paying customer as you and I both are, and he's entitled to go about his business without dealing with bogus crap like this.

Might be suspension material. E-mail the officials.

Edit: they are breaking the Code of Conduct: "• Don't scream, yell, threaten, or stalk other players."

"If you violate the Code of Conduct or the Terms of Use that you agreed to, action may be taken against your account. Some offenses warrant an immediate account cancellation, including but not limited to hacking, modding, severe racial remarks, continued creation of profane gamertags, and posting viruses or URLs to viruses."

E-mail the "officials" complaining about them (their GT's) and how you expect the CoC rules to be enforced, and what they did exactly. If you mention how "unsatisfactory" their rule enforcement is, and keep at it, they will regret ever meeting you.

Good luck.

All you can do is report them to the xbox live help line, I think. To be honest, the best course of action in my book would just be to ruminate on what a pair of gutless misfits these people would have to be and how nobody so weak and weaselly would dare say anything without the cover of anonymity.

Yeah, I call shennanigans on this one.

First you say they were not on your friends list but they kept getting in your party. Then you said they left you dozens and dozens of messages. You said it went on for 10 min before you finally got them to stop, but if it was as bad as you are making it out to be then it would not have lasted that long.

If someone is in your party that shouldn't be, then kick them and make it closed or invite only. After the first message they send block them.

I have a feeling this is a made up story and someone is just looking for a little attention.

Yeah, I have as well, but it doesn't take 10 min to put it on invite only and kick them.
