So I'm trying to install an ati radeon x1650pro. I have an integrated radeon xpress 200 series and a pci-e slot. Today I installed the x1650, and uninstalled the 200 series. I also went into the motherboard and told it to use the graphics card in the pci-e slot. The only problem is that it won't work. After I change the settings and save, my computer saves. Then it restarts and the disk drive keeps going like brr brr for like 50 times. After that, my pc finally boots but when I get to the main screen, it says that It has detected new hardware "Radeon x200 series" How is this happening since I told it not to use this. It's really pissing me off because i've wasted like 3 hours trying to install this thing. Nothing happens. I wan't to use it because the 200 series suck. Also, when i put the Vga connector to my graphics card and then the normal cable "bluish and forgot name" my screen says "No Vga found" "Monitor going to sleep". I seriously don't know what to do guys. Once i put the blue cable back away from the graphics card, then the disk drive stops going brr brr and it finds a singal.

Please help anyone.. I'm desperate to make this stupid thing work. *sigh*

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Seems like you installed the card first, you should uninstall the card, disable the X200 drivers, and install the X1650 Drivers.

While we are talkin bout graphics catds is dere a program out there that can boost my graphics cards potential? I mean make it work more effecient? I have a ATI 9600XT (It sucks i know) and the catalyst software with it is crap, cause when i play Halo its sweet, but when i change over to NFS most wanted it lags. Its not the high quality, so i thought its da driver, so i rolled i back to a older one, and i'm lag free but 30-40 minutes in the game it freezes then restarts. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry bout writing this here but i didn't want to flood the forum with another graphics card thread.

Yeah ur best bet will be to fully unistall the driver and install da new one.

Hey guys, one problem. I really don't know how to disable the x200. In the bios, i don't see anywhere, and if i try to disable or uninstall it from like hardware, it needs to restart and after that my computer says that new hardware is found which is the x200. I don't need the x200. I need it to be uninstalled. Then I can shut down the pc and install the x1650pro. Anyone know what I can do about that?

Please reply as fast as you can. I really want this to work =(

Well to start off, they both use the same drivers. Lets start from the beginning, when you put in your new card did you switch the monitor to the graphics card output and not the integrated one?

If you mean by right clicking on the desktop and going to properties, then yes I did that but it only showed ati radeon xpress 200 series.

Otherwise, no I have no clue

You mean that after installing the new graphics card you plugged the monitors cord into it? Did you make sure to plug the power cord into the graphics card while installing it? Were you sure to install any driver CD that came with it? If you did, and it still doesn't work, post your BIOS type/version (like Phoenix if you know it), or your motherboard make and model.

Yes, I plugged the monitor's cord into the card. What do you mean by power cord? I only have a blue one that goes into a connector type thing that goes inside my card. I don't think I did plug it. Right now, I disabled my xpress 200 series and my pc is using the default monitor graphics card.. thats all it says. Should I shut down, take the card out of the slot, putting in the blue cable and connector into in and then starting it up again?

go back into bios and set everything back

that or you dont have a good enough power supply to run it

After you have installed your graphics card, you need the most up to date drivers. Also you must be absolutely sure that it is a PCI-Express slot you installed it in. Well, install the new drivers, then restart and power on your pc. Be sure the monitor is currently plugged into that graphics card. If all goes worse, Call up the company and they will walk you through a 4 hour tutorial on how to do it. If all goes bad (still) get a computer technician.

hmm that might be it. how big is your psu? is it one of those cheapass psu's that come with dells that r only big enough to power the features configured, and nothing more?

Dell PSU's are actually a lot better than most people give them credit for, not that the x1650 pro draws a lot of power.

Hmm.. so this is making no sense. mine looks like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141610 44, and I brought my friends that looks like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141610 32 You see, the problem is that my monitor can't support the slots on the graphics card I have. When i put his in with the blue and white slot, it works perfectly fine. Is there some type of cable I need? The graphics card came with the plug that you put into the 2 slots that I have on the graphics card "VGA" and I need to plug the blue one from my monitor into the back of the vga slot. When I do this, it doesn't recognize it. When I do the same thing on my other one, it recognizes it.
