I Think That The Rag Doll Physics Is Great, But For Some Reason I Don't Really See It Happening In Halo 2... But I Do Think That If They Did Incorporate The Rag Doll Physics, It Might Be Pretty Interesting... =]

I want the halo2 ragdoll physics to be like the ones from a demo i played out of OXM for Psi Ops. They were crazzzyy.

Of course they will be. Unless I'm dreaming, they were in the original Halo.

no, ragdoll physics weren't in the original halo. they had nice physics, but not ragdoll. now painkiller has some ragdoll, watch a movie on that.

The havok engine runs HL2. So Bungie has a great physics engine in Halo 2!!! All they need to do is learn how to use it :P

ragdoll physics would be a lot, A LOT, better than the scripted death animations Bungie is working with now...

Both the Havok and Karma physics engine are amazing peices of software. If you've ever played Rainbow Six online, and seen the sicking crumple of a body exploding from a 3rd story window after stepping on a mine... ouch. It makes for some interesting talking of the smack in the game lobby.

I say if they have time to implement it (and if they were going to they probably would have it done already), then by all means do it. But if they decide not to, then it will purely be an asthetic loss and wont take away from my enjoyment of the game.

As of now, there are only 2 death animations.... kind of lame if you think about it

I actually don't mind the death animations in Halo 1 which of course are being re-vamped for Halo 2.

I really don't see Halo 2 getting rag doll physics...... For some odd reason that I think about it, it wouldn't "feel right"... IDK it would look sweet though, even though the XBox's processor is already having a workout running Halo 2 without rag doll effects :P

Would be tits for sure... what they had in Halo 1 was better than anything I had seen previous, but in today's day and age you have to do something else... 1 death animation isn't going to cut it

I'd like to have ragdoll physics too. As long as it had all the sounds to go with the bone breaking/crushing when the bodies slam into the ground. =]>

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Rag Doll physics. My opinion of the engine was probably tainted around the time Brute Force came out. Too many heads inverted, inside out and sticking through torsos. Sure, Rag Doll has come a long way since then, but even Rainbow Six 3 can be a little awkward at times - often seeming rather lifeless, which I guess would seem rather appropriate... um.. let's say, characterless. Then again, Freedom Fighters utilizes the same physics and I always look forward to seeing soldiers slumped over rails... so I suppose I'm torn. While I certinaly appreciate the Rag Doll physics, I don't seem them fitting into Halo. Why? I'm not really sure. It seems to me that Bungie is too ... for lack of a better word, Stylish , (perhaps innovative?) in everything they do. It's just my opinion that there is very little style involved in Rag Doll phsyics. I think there's a good chance Bungie will introduce something that will redefine death animations, instead of abusing used-goods. But hey - I could very easily be very wrong :)

Good points, p1acebo.
Rag doll physics have always been a mixed bag for me. I like them, but I've seen them result in unrealistic poses for the characters, too, which takes me out of the game and makes me think, "that wasn't real," which in turn, spoils my game experience. Which is not to say that some of the things in Halo weren't unrealistic, I just happen to think they were better.
If Bungie just let a physics engine do the work when characters get shot and die, it just wouldn't be Bungie.
Halo has many great death animations (have you ever spun a 360 after being shot in MP? Let alone some of the great things I've seen in Campaign mode), and I expect many more to come in Halo 2.

Look at the 3D screenshot it looks like the got ragdoll physics if not Havok or Karma.

Read the Weekly Updates--all of them. I'm sure if they're using ragdoll physics in Halo 2, Frankie would have mentioned them at some point. Heck, maybe he did and I don't remember it, but I do remember him talking a lot about animations to make the MC look realistic when he walks, runs and dies.
A-N-I-M-A-T-I-O-N. It makes the world go 'round.

Well, I've got to say Ragdoll physics do look really cool, it can't be denied. Whether or not they'd work in the halo universe, different story. However, im a little dissapointed sometimes when I slam shotgun slugs into an elite at point-blank range, and he just falls forward dead. I'd like to see a little realistic leverage, or at least him falling backwards. That's just me being a parky buger though!

no, no, no. Personally I despise ragdoll physics. Take hitman for example, a good game in its own genre but the ragdol physics let it down. Everyone ends up in a flat uot position and for some reason the fly 30 Ft in the air when you shoot them. Besides I like the way it was sat up in Halo 1, with enough different scripted death scenes there will be no need for ragdoll. No offence mr. ragdoll
