I know there are some of us that will not be able to afford the X-Box 360 by the time Halo 3 comes out, and probably a little longer. So therefore, those people who will still have the regular X-Box with Halo 2 will have to, if they want to, play Halo 2 Live instead of Halo 3 Live. There are those who will have Halo 3 when it comes out (with the X-Box 360), and will still want to play Halo 2 live until they get the hang of it. Not to mention, there are those who will still want to play the regular Halo 2 just for the old classic feel and enjoyment of the game, who knows the maps, and just want to play those maps that they know. There has to be some kind of contraversy in this subject matter. So, in everyone's opinion, how long should Halo 2 for X-Box live still be running?

I actually will probably not play Halo 2 when Halo 3 comes out. But to answer your question, I'll have to say forever.

I hope for a while. It would be unfair to people who don't have a 360/Halo 3 if it was shut off as soon as H3 came out. 4 or 5 months, at least.

obviously halo 2 is your first live game you've played. they work for forever as long as other people actually play it.

  • 05.12.2007 1:33 AM PDT

Forever. Some people do not have xbox 360's.

  • 05.12.2007 4:53 AM PDT

I doubt they will... or can end it. It doesn't run on servers so technically, atleast customs can go on forever.

did you check your pms? or read the weekly update...maybe you were lucky and got a redeemeable code. if not im sorry.

on topic tho i think halo 2 will be around forever. now on to the bigger issue...will anyone still be playing. i KNOW my neighbor will be as they cant afford cable let alone an xbox 360. they play it at my house on a seperate tv all the time so it should be around for a while

What he said. I just don't think bungie is going to be working much (or at all) with Halo 2, including matchmaking, come November or even a little sooner. So the playlists you see will be the playlists you get, without change, unless you do upgrade to the 360. Which, you should. There is no point in having a consule that you really won't get any new games, or support, on. I'm about to go out and buy the elite when my paycheck comes in and it'll be worth it. And if you really are not supporting yourself, just ask for a 360 for Christmas. If your parents (grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc.) love you, they be compassionate and buy it for you. =)

There is always XBC, but I know that after I get H3 I'll feel like reminiscing on the old Halo 2 days... so I'll be playing it for the old classic feel of... Halo.

Why wouldn't it run forever? There are still going to be enough people playing on it for it to be functional. I say 5 years after Halo 3 comes out. The reason I say this is because by then I am predicting the next next-gen consoles are coming out so the price for the 360 will go down making everyone able to afford one.

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

Why would they cut the xbox live off. You can still play all the Ghost Recons on XBL and all their other franchise games. It would be pointless to cut it off
