I have been a die hard Halo fan since the original Xbox came out. Never cheated. Spent hundreds of dollars to be able to play Halo. Waited 4 hours in line to get my copy of Halo 2 on midnight 11/09/2004. Never cheated. Spent hours of constant fun online with XBOX Live. Purchased maps. Never cheated.

Spent hundreds of dollars more for the 360 (for Halo 3). Signed up for the Beta program (Got accepted 1st round) Never cheated. Bought the newer maps. Never cheated.

NOW I'VE BEEN PERMANENTLY BANNED!

I've contacted h2cheats@microsoft.com many times. They will not get back to me.
WHAT DO I DO TO RESOLVE THIS.

Please review my stats I AM NOT A CHEATER!

SOMEBODY FROM BUNGIE OR ANYONE HERE PLEASE HELP ME.

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

You must have done something to make the Banhammer not like you

Take everything he said as if they were my words too.

I'm in exactly the same situation. I'm sorry to jump on your thread, but I finally feel like someone's going through the same thing. This has been so tough. I've called 1-800-4MY-XBOX multiple times, only to find that they can't do anything from their end. She was telling me to buy another gamertag. I've written 2 emails to h2cheats, no response, no action taken. I even tried leaving out a little info on purpose so they'd have to contact me to get all the info, but nothing. I don't think they're really reading anything there.
I really don't know what to do now. I'm considering writing an actual letter to the address provided in the contact us thing. C'MON BUNGIE STUDIOS! move into this century get a customer service email address and phone number. If I could just talk to someone who can do something about it this would have been over months ago.

I swear that I have not.
I've never tampered with my xbox, I've never tampered with my connection, and I'm not obnoxious or offensive.
Which are the only things that I know to be bannable offenses. But in general, I'm not stupid.
The only thing that's ever happened is my old xbox 360, now replaced, froze a few times. dropping me out of matchmaking games. But, quitting isn't a bannable offense.

People can report you for not liking you. And, as far as I can tell it's their word against your's. The woman at XBOX gave me the feeling that there is no trial. If you're arrested, you're executed.

I've already started a letter to Bungie and Microsoft Corp. It's a shame that die-hard fans like us have to go through this.

I really don't want to miss the beta program because of Bungie's screw up.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US!!!!

Quitting isn't bannable, meaning you can't get hit with the Banhammer for it. But, you can get negative feedback from other players for it, if they choose to go through the trouble. It takes a lot of feedback to get banned, though, and it would be from all of Xbox Live, not just Halo 2 Matchmaking. This is how you can be banned for someone not liking you.

Perhaps you got hit with the Banhammer for it looking like you were trying to manipulate the network. Are you banned from Halo 2 only, or all of Xbox Live?

Just Halo 2 matchmaking.

But you're right. I kind of see how it could look like that.. But it's not like it's happened that many times. It was twice that day. and I haven't been able to play since. I barely got started in both of those games too. And I don't remember talking either.
I think this is just a huge slip-up.

No, they don't. They can revoke your privilege to play in Matchmaking at any time, for no reason. It's a free service provided by Bungie, and it'a at their complete discretion. Microsoft can do the same thing to your priviliges on Xbox Live, even though you paid for that service. It says so in the UA.

It only takes a couple auto detects by the Banhammer to think you are messing with the network. Did you get your 360 serviced? Did you have to get a new one?

'Shoot the enemy not your teammate!

My buddy had this same problem. A group of guys reported him for cheating because he was just a better player then they were. Next thing he knew he couldn' t get on H2 matchmaking. He tried everything to resolve the problem. Nothing works, bungie won't respond because they think their "banhammer" is flawless I guess, and also I would imagine even people who cheat and get banned try the same argument. I guess you can't listen to all of them right? Anyway he had to set up a brand new gamer tag to get online again.

Sounds like "he" got banned for feedback, which is automatic. If they reported "him" to halo2cheats@microsoft.com, then they review all of those entries to make sure that there is evidence of the cheating before banning. Either of those is usually only accompanied by a temporary ban, and niether has anything to do with the Banhammer. That is automatic, and will result in the permanent bans.

You are right, though... They can't listen to every lame excuse.

What happened to the "customer is always right" approach. You have to atleast let them think that. even if you know they aren't. They really should have to prove it to you. I know that the contract says they don't, but c'mon that's bad business!

And it was on the new 360 that you are having the problem? Do you have documentation of the switch? It's possible that you could use that as proof that you were having 360 problems that caused the network hiccup. I don't know.

In any event, you could just make another tag.

No, it's not. What's right in business is catering to the majority. The majority of players appreciate the bans. They like the Banhammer, and the feedback.

'Shoot the enemy not your teammate!

Yea, I am just going by what he told me over the phone last week. I was not aware of a difference in the banning methods.
Thanks.

that's money that I don't want to spend and I'd lose all my 360 achievements.
