"We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We're evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that."
"Ok this is getting old so I'ma break it down:
1. I buy a game for $60.00,
2. I buy XBOX Live so that I can play the game online.
3. I play said game for 2 years.
4. All of a sudden some of my features are gone and I'm told they won't be back unless I wait 2 months or buy their new content."
Whaaa whaaa frakkin' whaaaaa. You don't want to shell out the OH SO EXPENSIVE 4 DOLLARS? Well alrighty then! Surely the two month wait to get them free isn't that bad? Oh wait, you hate that too. And You *also* hate that the logistics of the situation are such that you don't get to play in some playlists for two measly months out of your life. Guess what? Halo 2 is at the END of it's basic lifespan and you're lucky anyone thought to make new maps or prune the playlists at all.
"Now I know some of you fanboys will eat anything Bungie feeds you but you gotta wake up and smell the Folgers in your cup. The issue is that you are getting bullied out of your money and if this tactic is something we can expect from other publishers/developers then we are fukked as a gaming community!!"
Yeah, pal. Bungie ninjas came over to my house and strong armed the four bucks for the maps outta me. The fact is, nobody is forcing you to pay for these new maps for a game that came out four years ago, and you're mad because you don't get to play Rumble Pit for two months, or whatever. It is YOU who ought to wake the hell up and smell the maple nut crunch.
"I understand that they gotta charge because the game is not the same game I bought in '04...but at least let me play the same game I bought in '04."
Really? The same game? Ok, well I guess Bungie should just take away everything they've done to deal with modders and cheaters since then, updates to correct minor balancing issues, etc. You think the cheaters are bad *now*? Well, if you were playing the same game you had in 2004 you'd probably have gremlins crawling out of your damn Xbox by now. Oh, and you don't get to keep those eight or so new maps that came out between then and now.
You're right, Halo 2 isn't the same game it was at launch. It's had updates in order to keep you happy. You don't like them? Well, get another frakking game then, because all things considered (There is much that is out of even Bungie's control) they've done a damn good job keeping things fresh, dispite what the whiny little pissants on this forum would have us believe.
"Don't cripple it in order to force me to purchase your new maps. If this is adopted industry wide then gaming will fall faster then a ton of bricks."
Oh wow, this is rich. Now the entire gaming industry is going to fall? Because you're too much of a cheap bastard to shell out a pittance for new content, and too impatient to just *wait* until it's free? Yeah, ok bud.
"Some people don't have the money to spend on things such as new maps and they shouldn't be punished for it either."
If I was in such financial trouble that I could not afford four dollars to spend on the new maps, I would not be playing Halo. I would not be playing any games, because I would not have an Xbox, or a TV. I would be living in a one room apartment in the crappy part of town where the rent is low, the buildings are crappy and the hookers are numerous.
If you my friend are in such dire straights, then your priorities here are sadly misplaced.
"If you have 10 games you play online and each publisher is trying to squeeze money out your pocket like this you'll end up paying an extra $40 bucks just to get your games to operate regularly plus some extras. It might be ok with you but I refuse to get punked outta my hard earned money."
Where do you find the time to play 10 games online? I don't have a busy schedule, but it's tough even for me to squeeze in time for Halo at reasonable hours. If you are actually playing that many games online at once... again, priorities dude. This should not be an issue.
"Oh and Judge Dredd when I say "Economic climate" I'm referring to the actual state of the economy not the economic or political system itself. With gas, groceries, and property values rising but wages staying the same people are finding themselves with less and less disposable income."
While this has almost *no* bearing at all on what is being discussed, it's the first intelligent thing you've said and as such I feel I must recognize it. As a society, many of us as slowly but surely getting -blam!- from a variety of sources... but I doubt Bungie is one of them.
"So if gaming is going to become something with recurring fees people will find themselves having to cut it out in order to lower expenses it's just that simple."
Gaming is already something with recurring fees, man. Has been for some time now, and like I said if a measly four dollars is that much of an issue for you, you should be way, WAY past the point where you have time or effort to waste on thinking about a video game.
