I dislike the automatic aiming "Help" that Halo 2 has. I dislike it for a different reason than most. Yes, it makes it easier to hit. That's ok, I guess. Not my cup of tea, but since the other team has it too, it is ok. What I don't like is the fact that it tends to mess up my attacks. For instance, you are attacking 1 specific target. Suddenly, an ally of that target crosses your path momentarily. Unfortunately, the auto aim will follow the new target most of the time, screwing up your shot long enough to get you killed without eliminating your first target. It drives me batty. I wish you could just turn the auto-aim off. Ah well.

Note, that this is a viable strategy to use against other teams. Just keep with a partner and keep crossing in front of each other and it will screw up enemy aim a lot.

ok we all know that Halo2 has a lot of auto aim, yet thats not skill. So why do people that dont even play video games go buy a xbox and play halo 2 online and say that they love it, when it really isnt that hard to aim when the gun does it for you. this is why i cant wait for halo 3 on the 16th since it doesnt have auto aim like H2. So why is Halo 2 so massively known every where when its not even better then the first one. and heres a vid for a good example of what im talking about http://media.putfile.com/h2in

I think you're assuming that auto-aim is a form of . . . entertainment? Fun factor? Well, it's not. It means that the game takes less skill to play, but that doesn't mean it's not fun.

I think if you think about it, killing someone with a rocket launcher and sending them flying 15 feet into the air and over a cliff can be very addicting. Also, if it is someone you hate and you unload an entire smg clip into them after killing them, that can be a very good way to take your anger out on them.......just don't tell them it was you..(^_^)

Or maybe, just maybe, Bungie actually knows what they're doing.

Halo 2 is massive on Live because it's the sequel to Combat Evolved.

for the people who got their panties in a twist when he said this game doesn't take skill: this is what he meant.

halo 2 is not a game that takes a lot of skill to be considered "good" at. yes there are some amazingly skilled players. carbon, FB, and XiT come to mind. but this game really does not take a huge amount of skill. go play counterstrike or rainbow six. the ninja gaiden games of this generation take far more skill than halo ever could. ikaruga is ridiculously difficult when you go for S ranks.

once you seriously play a game that really does take skill, it becomes so obvious that halo 2 isn't really that skill based beyond very high level play. and don't act like i'm saying halo 2 is bad; i'm not. i still like it after 2.5 years but other games are just more fun.

and earlier i saw someone using the SMG's recoil as a defense for the game taking skill--Lol buddy. the recoil of dual wielding SMGs is almost non-existant in comparison to the recoil of automatics in counterstrike or rainbow six. and let's not forget that strafing has absolutely no negative effect on your accuracy at all in halo where as in CS or R6 erratic moving + holding down the automatic trigger = terrible accuracy.

People play Halo 2 because it's fun. Not because it's easy.

exactly

i honnestly think that Halo 2 has lost its good reputation becuase of the people who mod the hell out of the game just to achieve a high level. the level has nothing to do with how good you are i just shows how many games you have won with friends and other team mates, so you ask yourself why do they do it? well the simple answer to it is to destroy the reputation of the game. Personally i think that bungie should double their efforts to secure the servers from hackers and modders the simple solution to people who are found modding and cheating should be banned from xbox live and fined at least £50 to show that the company is serious about the security, then they can use that extra money to make better add - ons to the games and GIVE US MORE GAMETYPES!!! . This is the problem with Halo 2 it has not decent gametypes anymore, it has seriously put me off the online part of the game. I think if bungie don't sort this major crisis out before the release of Halo 3 then the company will be in major trouble from un happy customers and the online shooter we have come to know will be in the £1.99 box of your local game store, so what i suggest is that if bungie want to make the online service thrive then they should double thier efforts with security, make more gametypes ( at least 20).

"If Halo 2 does not require any skills to play, why don't you finish the game in legendary mode within an hour, video it and post on the internet and see what an easy game we have been playing all these days."

Your point is invalid if you think that the single player opponents have the same skill as the online opponents.

It's ironic how the bad kids say this game takes no skill.

If the game takes no skill than how come you don't win every game you play?

That's like saying, "If flipping a quarter takes no skill how come you don't get heads everytime you flip?"

Halo 2 does take skill, however, just nowhere near as in the first game.
