I'm not sure if anyone is having this problem, but here goes anyway.

The character counter (the thing that shows how many characters are remaining) is the problem as far as I can tell. Whenever I type into a text-box it takes forever for what I'm typing to show up in the box. The only way to make it stop "lagging" is to disable Javascript, write your message then re-enable Javascript again so I'm assuming it's something to do with the counter.

Anyway, if anyone else is having this problem and is using Firefox, I can help (sort of). I downloaded an extension which lets you easily toggle Javascript on and off. If you're having to resort to this it should make life a lot easier for the time-being. I'll add a link in a second.

Here's the extension just in case anyone else is having the same problem as me.

Once you've installed it, you click "Disable" then "Javascript" then "All Javascript" but only do that once you're on the reply page...once you've finished typing your message you'll have to re-activate Javascript again or you'll get an error page thrown at you.

(Umm what's up with the link not working? Oh well)

Are you using the latest version of FF? I am, and there's no problem.
Also, the link broke because you put the on a different line to the .

I'm running the latest version of Firefox. I don't know what's causing this problem but it's really annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

This one still alludes me too. I have FF 2.0.0.2 at work on Windows XP, and it works fine. On my wife's FF 2.0 at home (On Windows XP) it lags a little, but it works. On FF 2.0.0.2 on my Debian (Linux) computer at home, it is so bad I can't use it. It seems to be somewhat random.

Turning off the javascript temporarily is a good idea that I didn't think of. On my Linux machine, I would just type the text somewhere else and then copy/paste.

Edit: And it seems to work fine on IE7 wherever I try it.

Well I refuse to use IE7 so looks like I'm stuck with turning the Javascript on and off.

I like watching my letters come up after I type them.

Hmm. I only seem to have the problem on my Mac, which is considerably slower using FireFox than my PC.

Macs have a BSD (*nix) underbelly nowdays. I wonder if it is an issue with these builds of FF? just a guess.

Aureole: What's wrong with IE7? I know Microsoft has a history of making terrible and essentially useless browsers, but IE7 is an exception in my opinion. It's not too bad...

I don't know. I just can't stand IE, I can't use it properly and it's extremely slow.
