I was just wondering how do people become Forum Ninjas, do you have to spend a certain amount of time on the forums or what?

The boss asks you... How he comes to the decision of who to ask... I guess it has alot to do with how often you use the forums, how you present yourself in the Bungie.net community, and if they actually need a new moderator...

But you definately don't become one by asking.

I think you'd actually have more fun trying to become a real life ninja. You know, with swords and shuruken and all that.

Well according to Achronos if you want to be one:

You can't be one. Otherwise? I don't really know. I wouldn't recommend being one, its a job with few perks. I mean you don't even get paid, so I guess its not even a job. And I don't think this would count as volunteer experience for College either.

So its a watchamcallit, with no pay, and you get into the Halo 3 beta 3 days earlier as a perk. The sums up the advantages.

The disadvantages?
1) People rip your replies into shreds
2) You can't really interact, most people would get pissed if you involved yourself in their convo
3) People assume your word is official (leading to the lack of interaction mentioned in step 2).
4) You get exposed to every single leak: including campaign leaks.
5) You have to clean up the mess (spam etc)
6) You get death threats
7) Nobody likes the fact that you banned them

Lets see: A gazillion more

Oh yeah, You do get to have a position of power on the site for the company that makes the greatest game for all time.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

1. Play world of war craft with another mod.

2. Be an amazingly awsome forum cop with making it obvious that you want to be a mod.

3. Be an expert kiss ass.

4. Cut off 7 of your toes and mail them bungie.

Not i am joking. No offense ment.

Don't bother asking. They choose you. It is kind of like the mafia except for being chained to a desk and the wet noodles.

Forum Ninjas are selected on a number of characteristics such as community involvement, length of time on Bungie.net, knowledge of Bungie and Bungie games and should have extensive knowledge of the English language along with proper grammar.

*cough*

Recon knows he has powers. :P

Basically, the odds of anyone becoming a ninja are incredibly low. Just do the math. 1 million or so members vs. less than 20 mods.
