The difference between PC and console imo. Todays PC's are far more powerful than both the xbox 360 and ps3. An xbox 360/ps3 is only equivilent to a decent system with a nvidia 7900GT. Anyone who has got a better system has got more power than what both the xbox 360 and ps3 can provide.

A lot of people say that PC games are -blam!- because they freeze and stutter where as consoles do not. I can tell you that i have played a few console games that have frozen and/or stuttered. Yes these downers might make the PC gaming experience a little less enjoyable, but on average you get a lot higher frame-rates and smoother game-play. I would love to see any console achieve better frame-rates and smoother game-play while running 50 programs in the background.

Games on PC are generally graphically superior, having the ability to change graphics details at will is awesome and an advantage. With consoles they are simply not powerful enough to cope with some of todays games thus they have reduced graphic details. Not to mention you can have far higher resolution, AA and AF on PC making the games visual looks a lot better than any console.

Like i stated in my second paragraph about stuttering etc. When game developers make games for a console, they only have to work on 1 console as every console is the same. One xbox is the same to another xbox, one ps3 is the same as another ps3. So they can better optimize the game to suit that particular console. EVERY computer is different, no matter how much the specs look alike. This is a problem for game developers because they have to work on multiple computer with different specs, but can never optimize the game to suit all computers (with the exception of UT2K4). Thats why they are always constantly bringing out updates and patches for games, graphics cards, sound cards etc.

A lot of people also say, "well why spend so much money on a computer when you can get a console cheaper". Thats quite simple to answer. Because computers are not just for gaming, people like to use multimedia software that requires powerful systems, encoding movies, benchmarking and many more. Consoles are cheaper, but can you browse the web, use Microsoft office programs, use paint programs like photoshop, 3d programs like maya/3dsmax, cinema4d etc, and much, much more, and do a lot of that stuff at the same time.

PC's will ALWAYS be superior to consoles, its practically impossible for a console to be better than a PC as once console manage to do all the stuff a PC can do, its no longer a console, but a PC. Consoles are for gaming, nothing else.
Agreed, and PCs aren't even that expensive if you shop smart.

pcs are dumb console gaming all the way
Epic fail.

Seriously, what the hell is this? You ask us what's the difference and you don't even care, you just say console gaming is better.

Actually, I'm not sure if I can say that we haven't been doing the same with PCs.

PCs > consoles btw.

Console GPUs aren't even that great. PS3's GPU is just a modded G70 chip, and the 360's GPU is based off the R520. The Wii's is some other random chip from ATI. Basically, GeForce 8 (possibly the higher end of GeForce 7) owns them all.
Actually, the Xbox 360 uses a prototype R600.

This here is one of the more stupid arguments as far as gaming goes.

Both PCs and Consoles have the advanrages and disadvantages. I won't bother listing them here, as they are pretty obvious. Arguing that any one of these is better here, is arguing for a completely lost cause.

Why not play on both to get the best of both worlds?

(P.S. The PS3 is not a console, it's a grill.)

HOLY CRAP THATS HILARIOUS!!!! (especially with the pic)

but seriously dude what did you expect asking about which is better pc's or consuls in a dang PC FORUM!!!! really smart there......good job

and you then saying that "consuls pwn pcs hahaha" or what ever you said was just plain stupid. it holds no argument or fact or anything that would hold water in any form of argument (well maybe to a democrat it would.... if it was in favor of them..... if it wasnt they would call it hate speech...)

and 3rd PCS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN CONSULS for a few very good reasons
a. power (this includes EVERYTHING from graphics to engines ect.)
b. customization
c. more stable control system (by that i mean easier to aim in FPS ect.)
d. free online play (well at least for now....)
e. years ahead of consuls tech wise
f. the developers dont have to stay in parameters for a game. they can make it as big and bulky and graphicy as they want where as consuls they have to keep it below a certain lvl hindering what it could have been
g. the better games typically come out for pc *cough* crysis *cough*
h. see points a-g
i. bend down and kneel at the all mighty computer gaming console noobs!

yes like MR. Nick said they both have ups and downs but the pc has far less downs then the consoles... (and console games are generally much more expensive too. such as shadowrun for pc is 50 and for xbox it is 60 ??? same game wtf?

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

I don't see how you can divide gamers into different groups. I have a high end PC but also play a lot of 360, Wii and a ton of retro games. Really every system has it's fanboy's and each system has it's pro's and con's. I've met both mature and insanely immature people on both consoles and PC games. So each community is not better or worse than the next.

PC Games a cheaper, imo, because they are far easier to crack and pirate. I mean you can get thousands of PC games free of the internet illegally, but its rather difficult to do that with consoles (I guess because you need a mod chip to play the game). So game developers lower the price on PC games so more people will be keen to buying them instead of spending a lot of time trying to search for it illegally over the internet.

Than again I could be wrong, but thats what i think, and it fits into place, so meh

that could have something to do with it but i doubt it is the whole story. i also think it has to do with is that it is easier to make a PC game. i mean every computer nerd and their mother knows how to work a pc and such but to write something specifically for a console is different they have to do certain things and for online they have to put up the servers instead of the fan base doing it. so im guessing that extra 10$ in the case of shadowrun is to set up the servers and such....

I don't know about there, but in Australia, the average price for newly released console games range anywhere from $70 to $100. Where as for the exact same game on PC newly released it ranges from $50 to $70. I think that is one of the thousand reasons I migrated from console to PC, games are cheaper :-)

You're absolutely right, gamers should be judged on the content of their character and not the system they play on--but I find that PC communitiies tend to have less stupid, immature people...

Console games are more expensive due to the increased development costs and the licensing fees from the console manufacurer.
