Since the other one died out and I needed help i'll make a new one..

so this is making no sense. mine looks like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141610 44, and I brought my friends that looks like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141610 32.You see, the problem is that my monitor can't support the slots on the graphics card I have. When i put his in with the blue and white slot, it works perfectly fine. Is there some type of cable I need? The graphics card came with the plug that you put into the 2 slots that I have on the graphics card "VGA" and I need to plug the blue one from my monitor into the back of the vga slot. When I do this, it doesn't recognize it. When I do the same thing on my other one, it recognizes it.

Doesn't fit? Try a converter plug, or try hooking up with S-Video.

the graphics card did come with the converter, from dvi-vga and the card my friend has is pci-e. It's not the same exact model, but I just wanted to show you guys how the slots in the back were. So since I have the converter, it still doesn't work. I only have around a 250W power supply and it requires 450W. So do you guys think that that is the main reason it's not working?

mm sorry for double, but I was wondering if this would work?

http://www.microcenter.com/byos/byos_single_product_results.p html?product_id=255735

How would I know that my pc could support this, and does the card need the 450W by itself, or does that include all other things in the computer such as fans etc. Does this mean that I should get a higher power supply, or am I fine?

yet again...

its not the watts that matters its the amps on the 12+ volt rails

i could have a 250 watt power supply but with 17 A on the 12+ volt rails and still run that card

anyway if your computer is store bought with a 250 watt PSU, then it probably cant run it

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168171480 27

try that

Isn't the card in the link 12V+ I found a 500W one with 12V+

http://www.microcenter.com/byos/byos_single_product_results.p html?product_id=248568

I believe this will run the card, but I was wondering if it would be compatible with my pc?

Alright, so after getting this, I should be getting a display from the card?

  • 05.15.2007 5:30 PM PDT

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Ah, reminds me when I was 13, and a friend of mine's mom thought she knew more about computers than I did. SO when she screws it up, I naturaly being the kind, helpful man that I am, offer assistance. She spits in my face (not literally), and says "What would you know, you're just a little stupid kid?", and the next day her computer's psu blows, and ruins a lot of her computer. My analysis is that since she kept it on 24/7 and poorly ventilated, that was the cause of the "incident". lolz
Off topic I know, just had to say my piece.

One thing that i suck at is graphics cards and psu's lol. That's why I came to get help from you guys xD

i would do a couple other test like putting the monitor in different DVI ports and tell me how many amps are on your 12+ volt rail (on the sticker on your PSU)

this isnt the best place for hardware help

How do I put the monitor in different DVI ports. If you mean on the graphics card, I tried it on both of them and still no signal.

I'll write you everything that the psu sticker says. Then you can decide since I have no clue.

KK it says

"Input 100-127V ~ /8.0A 47hz-63hz"
200-240V -/4.0A 47-63hz

OUTPUT 250W MAX

5V&+12V TOTAL OUTPUT CANT EXCEED 218W
5v& +3.3V TOTAL OUTPUT POWER CANT EXCEED 165W

have u tried to change the display settings on your monitor? your problem maybe that u have it on analog setting when u have it hooked up through the dvi or vice versa...try changing that to see if that works

May you tell me how to do that sir?

that might be it. I just don't know what to do or where to go.

Do I do something, or do I go into properties?

Please tell me =P

Thats all that came with the card. The adapters are all I need right? so i plug this cable http://www.gearsandwidgets.com/external/vgacables.jpg into the adapters, then to the dvi port on the graphics card. When I do that, the disk drive acts up and makes a breep sound around 50 times and there is no display. So is this caused by unsufficient power since it needs 450W?

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

What brand PSU did you get? The coolmax one you linked us to is absolute garbage. I am also guessing you hooked it up and hooked it up correctly?
