First i want to say thank you for replying to this post if you do, so thanks!

i had a xbox when they first hit the shelves and obviously i got halo but that was many years ago and i got to a point where i got kinda tired of gaming and i was walking through the computer section @walmart and saw haol on the shelf and decided "ah what the hell" so i bought it and play it regularly bout an hour a day i love the mulitplayer the -blam!- rocks but now on to my question..

what and how do you alter the game? i am completely ignorant to any computer lingo so the forums are kinda in chinese in a sence,, but ive found out about xfire and similar programs for private team battles but dont really have the understanding of how to use those programs once installed. so is there some mystic topic or a complete list of all options available for that type of thing? or hell i know ill just go down and buy a "halo for dummies" book j/k but if anyone knows of where i can find some type of education into the darkside of halo i would appreciate it i think it would make the game a little funner in multi

once again thank you for your time!

1st question: are you using halo normal or halo CE.
if you are using halo CE it is much easier to alter the game. to alter the normal game you must get some program (im guessing xfire is what it is called but im not sure.) and change the values for different things by seriously screwing with the game files.

that is as much as i can help hope it helps.

The reatil product is Halo CE (Combat Evolved) however a free upgrade version was released that included an editing kit to allow you to run and or create custom maps. That version is called Halo CE (Custom Edition) As a matter of course the retail verion is referred to as Halo PC and the custom edition as Halo CE.

The Halo CE (Custom Edition) game is a free stand-alone program for registered users of the Halo PC game. It was developed by Gearbox Software the company that developed the Halo PC retail version of the game. You can obtain the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game and custom maps from www.halomaps.org. The Halo CE game is designed to use custom content. The editing kit allows you to create custom maps.

In order to install the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game you MUST own a copy of the Halo PC Retail version of the game, have the Halo PC Retail version CDROM and the CD Product Key number which is printed on the yellow sticker labeled "Product Key". You MUST have the CDROM inserted into your CD Drive to install and run the game. If you do not have the physical CDROM and the correct CD Key you will not be able to install or run the game. Installing the Halo CE game will not affect or change your Halo PC Game they can both run on the same computer.

If you wish to join a server running a custom map you must have the map that the server is running already installed.

Don't give help if you are completely clueless. Editing regular Halo is still easy, as most of the time you are just replacing a file. XFire is an instant messaging client to chat while in game.

No biggie, just avoid giving advice about something you know nothing about.
