Hello all! Looking for some help here as I'm simply a computer novice. Also sorry in advance as I know this is not a computer hardware forum but this is one of the few places I know to post in.

Here is my situation, I recently received a EVGA 8600 GTS Graphics card. The only problem is that it requires a 6 pin power connector(did not come with it).

My current powersupply is a 450 Waat ATX12V. It contains no such 6 pin power connector. It only has a 4 pin. So I'm looking for a 4pin to 6pin converter I think? I'm not quite sure as I'm pretty new to this stuff.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Also I did try to purchase something only to cancel it. I was going to buy this product
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681288700 1

Only to find out it didn't work with PCI-E cards.

Finally, the only available power supply slots I have left is the 4 pin, and another white 4 hole thing.

Thanks for the time.

Well you're basically there already.

You are right, you need a Molex -> pci-e converter. Its basically a cable that on one end has two MOLEX power plugs and on the other one 6 pin pci-3 cable. There's an example at the page here:- http://www.directron.com/6pinpcie.html

The one you posted looks perfectly correct for my card, although it is an ATI and not Nvidia one. They may have different wiring/connectors which you'll just gave to goggle i'm afraid!

The forums don't let you put in images, set up a link.

You also may want to consider getting a newer power supply. 450W may not be enough to run that card depending on how much other stuff you have in your computer.

Ditto. I was under the impression 8800's need at least a 500W power supply.

That one you linked to looks good Cylon Leader. I think I may purchase it.

Thanks to you and everyone for the help. Hopefully this works :)

After reading the 2 reviews for the product though, it doesn't look so good.

Does anyone know of any other sites that similar products that would work for a EVGA 8600 Card?

Once you go Newegg...you go...aw darn, I forgot Newegg's punchline!
Well, here: www.newegg.com
^sorry if that link was already posted. I'm tired today, and don't feel like reading like 10 posts...xD

But yeah, you're lucky. 8600 should work well, but like everyone said, consider getting a PSU that is 500+w.
