Well my 8600gt is being bottlenecked by my processor , and I was wondering what amd processor should I get. I can't afford to get a new mobo too, so yeah. I'm not looking for a fast processor really, just one that wont bottleneck my gpu.

Would you please just tell use what your processor is? It is not irrelevant because it might not be what is bottlenecking you card. Hell the card is not that good, a 7900 beats it so it may just be the card. But there are hundreds of AMD 2.2GHz processors, though if you still want to buy a new one I would get a AMD Dual Core, I have one 2.4GHz and I love it, I have never waiting on it.

if your wondering about what to get, we really need every single detail to determine your illness. I'm not a western doctor, I'm from the east. :P so, anyways, here is a run down on what you need to tell us: motherboard, the name and version, and maybe the serial; RAM, name, type, serial, how many gigs; Hard drives, name, type, serial, how many drives; Current CPU; CD/DVD drives, name, type, serial, how many drives; Graphics card, name, type, serial, over clocked?; Power supply, name, type, serial, wattage, voltage-rails; and what kind of cooling device are you using? We will need the name and everything else as well. And i know it sounds irrelevant, but what kind of case do you have? Send that information our way too. If there is anything else which you have attached to your computer, like large monitors, and maybe a massive recording studio, or a sound card send us all that information. What kind of operating system do you use? do you tweak it?

Anyways, all this information is relevant, because all the parts work together to manifest your visual desire. If you need help discerning information, you can look up on wikipedia for some basic information, and then check out guru3d for advanced help in their forums. There are many more skilled artisans of the PC in that forum.

Hope I can help, and if not, someone else, but first we need all that information. If your having trouble finding information about your system, crack it open!

Dude, the thing is I already know what's bottlenecking it.I also know the 7900 is better, but I'm using the step up program with evga. I know a lot about computers, I just was hoping one of you could recommend a processor. Any dual core am2 amd? But, if it will help, I'll post my specs.

1.5 gigs of 3200 ram

8600gt evga not oc'ed

Some 754 mobo plan on upgrading to am2

Thermaltake 700 watt psu with 54 amps(something close to that) on 12v rail

amd athlon 3200+ 2.2 ghz

a 160 gig hard drive 7200rpm

Micro ATX case

For cooling, all of my cooling is stock, with 1 case fan atm (lol I know but I have no more room)

My gfx card is running around 55 c, which I know is high, but not deadly.
That all you need to know? Help is appreciated.

ok i found a nice cpu! everyone is saying this baby can oc mad if you get a nice cooling device (which i recommend).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168191037 59

of course this is if your upgrading your mobo~ other than that your setup is looking pretty sweet, except for the case (loli micro) i recommend a mid tower at least so you can get some better air flow, unless your case is wide open xD! and im guessing you have 3gb sata? if not get it for your HD! makes everything run a bit faster :B~ oh and while your at it, you know, while buying your new mobo, get one that can support this type of RAM http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E1682022717 5 especially in dual channel.

Hope it all works out for you! good luck on your comp man :D
