I agree with the whole point of this thread, though I would've gone about a different way of explaining my points.
The basic point is this: Team games require a TEAM, not someone who wants a certain gametype over another. That defeats the whole concept of a team.
In any ranked 4 vs 4 game, a quitter usually spells doom for the team the person quit on. I am fairly confident that teams with a quitter with, most of the time, lose.
Is it right to punish those who stayed in while one kid decided to quit because the gametype was not to his/her liking? No.
Is it right to punish the quitter? Yes.
I don't care if you paid the same for your Halo 2 disk than me. The fact is, you (the quitter) are ruining many people's experiences over Live because of your selfishness. You ruin 3 other people's game in order to try and improve yours. That is selfish. If you really want that one gametype, gather some friends and play a Custom or unranked.
In my opinion, the only way to justify quitting is a family emergency. Answering the door? Takes less than a minute. If it's one of your buddies? You shouldn't have started a game to begin with.
Answer the phone? Again, takes little time.
Go to the bathroom/eat? C'mon, you should know that this is coming up and not start a game.
Leaving to go out? Again, plan ahead and don't start that game.
An emergency? Fine, go ahead and quit. But I don't know too many people that have more than 2 or so emergencies a day. Any more quits than that, and I will look on you as another quitter, set to ruin my gameplay to improve your own.
You know who else ruins my time for their own benefit? Modders. Standbyers. Cheaters. Don't make me mention quitters in the same breath.
