I mean, with a level 4x larger then Assault on the Control Room, there will be some massive battles. I dunno, you think Master Chief will be able to control his own squad to some extent?

only the fact that they follow you everywhere. in halo, i think controlling the squad would be more of a burden, but not in other games where the action is not as fast-paced.

I really hope that there aren't any squad-based functions. That would only complicate and slow things down. Besides the MC can handle most situations on his own. I just hope the Marines will stick with you a little better and that they'll be able to go most everywhere you go. It was disappointing the number of times that you had to leave them behind in the first game.

Most squad-type functions marines will handle on their own if I'm assuming correctly. The AI is built to find cover, point out snipers, and complement the weapons they use etc., so it would only make sense that they split up to flank the enemy and work as smaller functional units instead of one suicidal follow-the-leader mass. While I would like having the option for the chief to tell marines to "lay down covering fire" or "get behind cover" to make their actions more complimentary towards his, I have my doubts that anything of this nature will be in Halo2.

i dont think it would slow down or complicate the action much considering the d-pad was unused in halo 1. so it wouldn't be hard to assign a few commands that you could dish out via the d-pad

That's a pretty good idea, because the D-Pad wasn't used for anything in Halo 1. If they were to do this, I wouldn't want it to be too complicated. I wouldn't mind having 4 commands for each side of the D-Pad (Suppression Fire, Take Cover, Hold, Follow). Those 4 commands would pretty much cover it, if you think of some more...let me know.
