halo2 gameplay innovation: the shield
i was at an isis show, thinking about halo2, and i had a really great idea. allow the player to use shields [like jackals]. the shield could be exclusively dual-wield-ed and [obviously] destructable. this would bring a whole new depth of gameplay to halo, especially in multi-player, where players unload all rounds from dual-wield-ed weapons at the drop of a hat. if you had a shield then there is more tactic involved. the shield would bring defense to fps and keep the gameplay balanced. melee attacks would be an effective way to deal with a player with a shield [like fighting jackals]. another approach could be using one weapon to destroy the shield then have the second follow up with the attack. that would leave both players with a single weapon to battle with [prior to reloading, switching, or picking up a weapon] so fights would last longer and bring a whole new way to play fps.
