Yup, Blizzard is without a doubt the best PC game company as of right now, and the biggest and most successful game company ever created, and also more than likely the best game company ever created. Now I'm not basing this off of opinion but on fact.
Wrong. "The best game company ever created" is biased. They are one of the biggest and most successful gaming companies, though.
All of their major games in their 3 major series have scored at least a 9.0 and higher. Starcraft Original and Brood War, Warcraft 1,2,3 and its expansion the frozen throne, Diablo original, its sequel 2 and its expansion lord of terror and World Of Warcraft have all been amazing games. Starcraft original and BroodWar has sold over 6 million each!
Diablo doesn't even count for Blizzard. They didn't, after all, make it. You can thank Condor Games/Blizzard North for that. Then again, you can't, considering they all left to form Flagship Studios. Blizzard bought Condor Games when they were developing Diablo; Blizzard did what they do best and just bought the company and merged it with them. They did the same thing with Swingin' Ape Studios by renaming it Blizzard Console.
What is even more amazing is that its been 10 years and the game is still going strong and GAINING STRENGTH! in other countries such as Korea. the starcraft series are literally still flying off the shelfs. World of Warcraft has sold 8.5 million copies and it is an MMORPG! World of Warcraft is the third best selling game in the world and like starcraft is still GAINING STRENGTH as well. This also does not include the 4 games in the Warcraft RTS series and the whole of the Diablo series.
Starcraft was only gaining popularity in Korea for the past four years, and because it's such a hit in Korea, more Korean gamers are buying and playing it. Also, it's called dedication. If you don't think the majority of Diablo/Starcraft fans aren't feeling shafted by WoW then you're wrong.
Blizzard does do things for the fans, go to the warcraft RTS, World of Warcraft forums, and all of their game forums. Blizzard employees are always posting no matter how infrequent, or how often they do. They have not abandoned any of their game series, blizzard is always creating new patches for Starcraft and Diablo and Warcraft 3 even though Starcraft is 10 years old, Diablo is 7 years old, and Warcraft 3 is 4 years old! Every year Blizzard hosts game tournaments online for Warcraft 3. Also, don't forget about Blizzcon, the game convention that is annual and created by blizzard them selfs that fans can come play blizzard games, and even meet the developers and employees of Blizzard, the people who make the games.
If Blizzard cared for their fans, they would've made a Starcraft or Diablo sequel by now. They're finally announcing that they are going to be developing the next Starcraft game. Mind you, they're only announcing it. It'll take at least another four or five years for the game to be completed and then a year afterwards to delay the game and it to finally come out. Don't even get me started on Diablo. The original creators already left. Why do you think there's no mention of new patches for Diablo anyways? And honestly, like the new patches did much?
Besides Blizzard's fan base is in the dozens of millions, no matter how good a decision they make, they're will always be someone who doesn't like it. Just because some fans dislike blizzard's decisions for their games and voice their opinions, it doesn't mean that the other dozens of million do!
It also doesn't mean that dozens of millions don't voice their negative opinions on the company they once loved. Considering the insane amount of revenue they generate and the number of employees they have, it is absolutely inane and idiotic for a game in a series to take 10 years to finally be announced that a game will finally be in production. Let's not even bring up Starcraft: Ghost; six years of production, zero yield of production, and, in the end, they bought a company. Blizzard is a corporation at its finest, fooling many to believe they give a damn about the community. Hell, they have a human resources department, which are the people that make you feel like they give a damn. It is, after all, what they are paid to do.Well everyone has their own opinions, and mine is based on their games that I have played and have been for months and years. Even if their not the best game company, can you think of any other company that is successful, as supportive of all their games whether their new or a decade old, or have produced as many quality games as Blizzard Entertainment has. Almost I didn't say that Blizzard was the best game company ever created but more than likely because of their successes and support of the communities such as Starcraft.
Although you may say that they haven't listened to the fans for them wanting Starcraft 2, they've always been thinking about it and know that the fans are sad when a development team is opened up and don't do a Starcraft sequel, but the fans know that they know this. Example from a fan site called Starcraft legacy:
10/21/02
HomeLan Fed had an interview with Blizzard VP Bill Roper concerning StarCraft: Ghost. Although we don't learn anything exactly "new", there is an eye-catching question at the end of the interview:
HomeLAN - Finally, even though Blizzard and Nihilistic are working on StarCraft: Ghost, most people still would like to see Blizzard make StarCraft II. Can you give us any hints about that possibility?
Bill Roper - Unfortunately for fans of the series, we are still not working on StarCraft II. We know you want it, and you know we want to support the universe and our passionate community. It is something we talk about frequently and fondly and is at the top of the list of games to consider every time a team becomes available.
Ok, well your right about Diablo and about Starcraft being popular only in Korea. Also some fans probably do feel shafted by WOW while others probably do not, however you still cannot ignore that Blizzard is still supporting the game with servers and patches for fans of the game to play on after 10 years. Also about Diablo, well you say that, however even if the patches in your mind don't do much, at least then they are trying to support the community, and another factor is that the Diablo team has left, they don't have any other people to dedicate to the Diablo franchise, thats why they are hiring people to fill in that gap and other gaps. It's not like more people will pick up right where the team who developed the game and have supported it for years have left off.
Yes, Blizzard does make quite a lot of money every month, however a good sum of that money is spent on many things. They have the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises to support. These games all run on battle net and have servers they need to maintain and upkeep. Also, don't forget about World of Warcraft and that games support alone, they have many many servers they need to support and upkeep 24/7 as well for the 8.5 million people playing. On
WOW servers alone, they need to do maintenance and server checks all the time. Don't forget about the people behind this, they have teams devoted to support and development of each game as well as more development teams for new games. They have to pay for all of this as well as their conventions they host all the time. However they most likely do make a large profit still.
Besides, like I said before, can you name another game company as large, successful, supportive and have produced as many high quality games Blizzard has?
