just cuz I wanna add some fuel to the fire, I went and I checked the book out. First Strike that is, and well. They actually go back in time in the book. LOL.

Pg. 58, "1750 hours, September 22, 2552" This is before the Chief even leaves the system that Halo was in, and yet at the end of the book, the date is, "1852 hours, September 13, 2552" Pg. 328

The only difference is that they have "Revised date, military calendar." Now I dont know what this means exactly, but it sure leads me to believe that something is going on.

It seems like a typo to me. But i have to admit it almost looks right since that date is in fall like bungie had said.

I'm not reading into this, but...

Supposing the game does come out that week. It will most deffinitely be the 14th and not the 13th. Everyone knows that DVDs, CDs, & video games come out on Tuesdays. That's just the way it is. The 14th people!!!

I hope you also realize that the first day of Fall is on Wednesday, Sept. 22. The first day of Winter is Tuesday, Dec. 21. Following the normal events of Xbox and Halo CE, Halo2 will most likely be released in November.

Just my two cents.

I agree, Halo 2 will most likely come out in late September or November.
Bungie seems to have a few multiplayer levels and maps done already, so maybe we will receive Halo 2 in early September.

Actually September 14th release date would work just as well, seing as according to the book on September 13th at 1825 hours (6:25 pm) John, Fred, Will, Linda and Sarge are on route to Earth and were estimated to reach the planet in 35 hours so the exact calculation would end up being September 15th 0425.... but I'm almost postive Halo 2 doesn't start off at the exact time the Spartans and Sarge reach Earth. So if you trim off maybe 10 hours off the calcutaed dat it would fit perfectly with the standard release dates for DVDs, CDs and Video Games as Doublefire stated above... I''m gald that some people challenge the idea, veyr interesting to debate, thanks. Well as always... happy huntin and keep it comin.

Ok they are not going to write a book and make it end on a date that matches up with normal CD and DVD release times. Also, if they are planning a speial release date that matches the story line as you suggest, they will have it seperate from anything else going on in the world to maximize all the publicity that they will get. Obviously they are holding all this info from us fans to build up the hype. They know what they are doing and doing it on purpose.

You could also subtract 6 from 20 to get Sept 14th, which is a Tuesday, the day of the week most game titles are released. Great post Shifty, it's fun to speculate and that was the most informed theory I've heard of so far.

Tartarus, i do hope you know this is speculation and there has been other evidence (stronger infact) then the fact about the First Strike ending date and all those not-so-random mathematical equations that we have made... perhaps you are right and they would "seperate it from anything else going on in the world to maximize all the publicty..." but... I dont really understand what you meant by that, but if you meant that, that this lone story date ending in First Strike is all that we are relying on, and all that Bungie is relying on, for that matter, to create its publicity for this secret release date is very farfetched (then again so is this topic lol) but further more I'm guessing only about one third of Halo fans have even read the books and to base a release date solely on a date in the book that only a handful of people have read, wouldn't be very intellegent to create "publicity"... Thats why before posting this I tried to get all of the most convincing evidence out in the open before i made this speculation and personally I think this would be something Bungie would do, I'm even going to go as far as saying what you said yourself... They know what they are doing and doing it on purpose.
You have the right to your own opinion, and I'll respect that but I will certiantly challenge it to the best of my ability, even if it does mean being proved wrong, I will try to back this up as much as i can.
Thanks for the input Tartarus along with everyone else it's always fun to debate. Cya all n happy huntin

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. I've been following this thread and I think that your discovery is very interesting and could be very well true. Infact I think that if they used the September 13th date as a release date it would be a brilliant marketing strategy and could create a lot of publicity (for those of us who read the books).

Also (and in support of your theory), like I said they know what they are doing and doing it on purpose by keeping this game under such secrecy. It only increases the hype around halo 2. This could be considered proof of bungie intentions to do this elaborate release of Halo 2. What I don't think is that they trianglated the date september 13th around the halo story line, a Halo 2 release date and normal CD/DVD/game release days. That just gets too complicated. I mean they do try and put every little detail into their games but they aren't that good.

To elaborate on what i said about maximizing publicity, they wouldn't want the special release date of sept. 13th to fall on a normal game release day. If they were really purposefully trying to generate some more hype with all this they would give Halo 2 its own special day and time for release.

Who knows though. those guys at bungie are probably all watching this thread progress and having a good laugh with it. Here they keep us guessing on when we'll get to buy the game and we get deperate and start reading into things that really aren't there. Its kinda like the whole Beatles thing of who killed Paul. If you get excited enough (or high enough) you'll believe anything.

Very nice find and like all the rest of the people i now respect you but the thing about Halo 2 being released around fall isnt true. Somewhere i dont remember where Bungie said that they were going to push it to the Holiday, but what do i know lol

The release is set for a Fall 2004 release to be availble for the holiday season. Never the less I see 'open' (open being seasons and such) release dates such as Fall 2004 to be more of a guideline to what's coming and not so much a rule. Then again rules are meant to be broken so perhaps it is a rule :P.
Tartarus, I now see what you meant now and I'm glad you put more input in (for and against lol). This is really turnin into one helluva topic... I just wish Frankie n Sketch wold come by once in a while to see what we're up to.. *cough*cover up*cough. Anyways peace out guys

I just realized a major flaw in the whole sept. 13th thing. If they say the release will truely be in the fall then it won't be released on sept. 13th... thats SUMMER! *people in the crowd faint and crap their pants* Fall doesn't start until Sept. 20 sumptin.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Holy crap, dude. You have some extraordinary perception and deciphering skills. Keep up the good work. I'm not sure if I could've done something like that, and I analyze everything... (I guess it could help to pay attention to Mister Chief pictures... no offense to Frankie). You post First Posts like you've been here since the beginning. I can't wait to see what your later posts will be like.

Wow, that could actually be true. I thought it was kinda weird for him to make that calander and mark a date saying, "here's a secret" for something as little (although awesome) as the bungie.net sign redesign. This is big news. Now I've got to call up all my Halo playing friends and tell 'em the new scoop! =D

Dear God he's right! This thing goes WAY beyond Halo 2 people! After the 13h, we'll all be living on Bungie controlled communes, wearing plain but sensible cerimonial robes:P

The truth is Bungie won't rule the world. They work for Satan, so no robes. He prefers natural attire as in "nude".
