Well, i've played the demo without any errors/problems at all.

after installing, i've a had problem, Halo keeps freezing.
So the night i brought the game, i downloaded the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers and latest radeon drivers, updated the game to 1.04 and still the game freezes.

The level slient croptohor works fine like the demo.
Specs:

windows 98se (if you say 98se is crap, go and get xp, i will simply ask for the money as i dot have it)
80gig hdd
Via kt600
amd 3000+ xp
512mb ddr 400.
radoen 9200se (same as above, i cant afford a upgrade although i'm planning to get a radeon 9800pro or xt.)

However, all the freezing seems to happen at the same intervals, (i.e i've just escaped the pillar of autman after blowing it up, i see the flood walking along, and then i see the fighter for about 1-3 seconds, the game will freeze.
I've disconneted my floppy drive and a fan, still freezes,.)

I say Halo freezes due to the fact if i drag my hands over the keyboard, it will quit to the desktop, sometimes giving a error, if it doesnt i try restarting halo but only ends up with a error or halo not working.
~Could someone please help or give a indiction of where to look/ who to ask...

Edit: doing a clean boot and reinstalling dont help either.....

These are errors i revice after exiting halo after it freezes.
This one appears as soon as i press the windows key :KERNEL32 caused a general protection fault
in module USER.EXE at 0003:000035f6.

and this one when i try to replay halo after its froze: DDHELP caused an invalid page fault in
module ATI3D2AG.DLL at 01cf:b012e87c.

since you say that your short on money...you could try turning off all your advanced video settings....like specular, decals, and you might want to turn down the textures to about medium...

other then that all i can think of at least is to save up for a better video card....if you want to get a good best bang for the buck card right now go for a 9600 xt its considerably cheaper then a 9800 xt, and its is a very good performing card...I have this same card and I have every single advanced video setting on and Halo plays nice and smooth.

try this place here

Heyyo,

Yeah, but he had the demo dude, and that never crashed... you said you use patch v1.04, but the latest is v1.05, try that out.

Also, are you running Windows XP with Serivce Pack 2? (SP2) cause that has a lot of issues with programs... very annoying, thank god I diddn't install that. :)

After that? well, it can be a compatibility issues, try cranking down your pixel shader to version 1.1 or forced function by typing this in the target line of a shortcut:

-use11 (for pixel Shader v1.1)
-useff (for forced function)
