Here's as unbiased an opinion as it gets. I really don't care about the game, as I couldn't possibly get it if i even decided that I wanted it. I'm too poor/lazy to buy a computer that can run it, and my parents probably wouldn't let me play it. So here goes.
No. I don't think it's worth it. Not because you have to spend $1500 for a system and $200 for Vista: face it, you'll have to buy both of those sooner or later. Not because I hate MS for releasing it on Vista: face it, MS exists to make money, and you can't blame them for what they do.
The reason I don't think H2V is worth it is the graphics. When you boil it all down, what you really have is a PC port of a 2-year old console game with shinier graphics. The exact same gameplay is carried over, word has it that Windows Live is pretty much the same as XBL, and you only get two new maps. I think the reason most people will buy H2V is because of it's leet shineez. So let's talk about the graphics.
Going into pre-release, Hired Gun made a big deal about the fact that in H2V, they used the cinematic models stored from the Xbox version, because the PC could support the higer resolution models during gameplay. That's all well and good - until you remember that these are the original Xbox cinematic models we're talking about. No super high res shiny biped models exist for this game. the models were created for a dying system, which was graphically weak. You don't hear console jockeys complaining about it, though, because they're sitting 6 or 7 feet from their TV. You really don't care about 16xAA when you're that fat away.
However, most PC gamers are sitting less than two feet from their screen, and that's when the graphical sloppiness becomes apparent. That's when you see the truth: this is a two and a half year old game which has already been played about ten million times. It's nothing new, and you're really not getting anything significant for your new PC and OS. Sure, upgrade to Vista and DX10, but save your $50 for something new and next-gen like Crysis. Don't give Microsoft the satisfaction of charging you $2000 for a repackaged two year old game, slopped together in a few months to squeeze some revenue out of the PC gaming community. I'm not blaming them. I'm just saying we really shouldn't let them treat us like -blam!- and expect us to open our wallets.

Thank you very much for your time.
EDIT: Crap. I forgot about the editing kit. Not being sarcastic. That's actually a feature that's worth something. I'm really not sure where that puts my decision.
