Subject: Question to halo1 die hard fans

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

Halo 1 FTW. While the Beta is fine, it is just a beta so this question isn't exactly relavent yet. come September 25th, that will change.

Halo 3 is definetly a step up from halo 2, but it still is nothing like the original. It still doesn't have that feel of an epic game.

Either way, I'm excited for halo 3, and I hope for the best. Even though I have many doubts with it being as good as Halo 1.

I completely agree that Halo 2 was not epic in any sense, and that Halo CE was perhaps the most epic I've ever played. But really, MP does not make a game epic, story and plot and an incredible campaign do, and it seems that Bungie is going in the right direction there.

Yes, and by all accounts Halo 2's campaign was supposed to be 10 fold more epic then Halo 1, and we all know how that turned out. But like LlamaKing said, i still have hope for Halo 3 and i am looking forward to it, but after playing the beta i've come to the realization that i'll never be able to play another Halo game again with the same satifaction and fun i had with Halo 1. Both MP and SP.

I thought halo 3 would have a 90 degree VOF, which it does tecknicly, but it just doesn't feel like it. In tearms of gameplay and feel and balance, halo 3 and 2 are still infirior to halo 1. I still like halo 1 over halo 2 and halo 3 beta. Heck, in some ways halo 1 has better graphics. Does the sun do this in halo 2 or 3? (objects in front of it will be covered by its glair)? I still love halo 1. Better storyline, music, weapons, characters, levels, gameplay, feel, game.

OMG look!!! You can see Bungie!!!!! O.O

You know, people, even though they follow the same story, with the same characters and all, every Halo game feels... different..... I can't really explain.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 feel like a completely different series than Halo 1. I've stopped playing the Beta and just kept playing XBC Halo 1 because it's far more fun and way more satisfying when you get a win. Halo 3 is really easy and not all that satisfying. I'll play a game and go like +30 but it's still not even that much fun, I don't feel like I'm earning kills. I miss fighting for power ups when I play Halo 3, the pace of the game is just really monotonous and slow. Spawn at the opposite base as the other team, grab BR, go through man cannon, get spartan laser, then get jumped by two people and since every gun takes over 3 seconds to kill its impossible to take them both out.

Halo 1's pace was so much better thanks to more powerful weapons, better nades, harder to use melee (but at the same time stronger), and power ups that actually matter. The Halo 3 maps are so much more 1 dimensional than any of the Halo 1 maps. Even High Ground, which is what I would consider the most technical map in the Beta, pales in comparison to maps like chill out, dammy, pris, or HeH. Each of these maps played differently. The gameplay was drastically different map to map. In Halo 3, the battles seem pretty much the same on every map, but the surroundings are just different.

I was playing damnation today and I was on the green side, coming out towards the teleporter when I see I guy come through. He gets a couple shots on me, so I drop down by sniper and grab it. I jump out by OS, land on the ledge and jump from slope to slope to get underneath red base. I go through the teleporter and snipe the guy in the back of the head, because he still thinks I'm on that side. You don't see that kind of stuff in Halo 3, it's all very 1 dimensional. See a guy, shoot, get close melee (which is pretty much an instant hit because its so damn easy thanks to the lunge).

Maybe once we can play 2v2 ts with no radar and maybe carbine starts the game will start to look better, but at this point I'm really disappointed in Halo 3.

you got that right. halo 1 was just an unbelievably amazing game. i just wish that bungie could replicate that awesomeness in halo 1. but it will never happen.

as far as my thoughts on the halo 3 beta..... it is defintely way better than halo 2, but it is not even close to as good as halo 1. but i was not expecting it to be. so it is pretty fun, but i find myself always quitting after about 3 hours of playing it. it just starts getting very boring. I could seriously play halo 1 for days and days and never get bored of it. i wish someday halo 1 will be on XBL. i would pay anything for that.

my Halo ratings

Halo: CE 11/10
Halo 2 4/10
Halo 3 beta 7/10 (this could change once the final game comes out. i think the campaign will be awesome, but i'm not holding my breath)

I know! Even with the Halo 3 beta out I still play more Halo 1 than Halo 3.

As do I. The only problem is that unless bungie fixes the 2v2 spawn system 2v2's is pretty much unplayable the way I see it.

No, even the multiplayer had epic battles in them. Everything in the first game felt right, all the wapons clicked with the maps and powerups and the little helpful tidbits that weren't originally intended (or so i think) still didn't feel out of place.

The games were so much better and comebacks were much more plausible in halo 1 rather than in halo 2 or the 3 beta. It also helps that the starting weapon wasn't a close range weapon. From what i've seen and played so far, the beta is fun. But it just doesn't have that feeling of an amazing game. It doesn't click as if everything had a good use and a purpose. Of course the weapons all have purposes but instead of a weapon being mid range weapon like the rocket, its now the mid range weapon that caters only to people on foot.

The creative aspect in halo 1's multiplayer is much more advanced than in halo 2 or the beta. Plus the camo actually works :)

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

H3 is better

halo1 and 3 are pretty damn different games. halo 2 and 1 were pretty damn different games.

halo 1is a unique game by itself and the sequels do no justice.

Halo CE > Halo 2 for GAMEPLAY.
Halo CE < Halo 2 for VARIETY.

H:CE was more fair, more balanced, etc. H2 had more features, weapons, etc. Neither was more fun than the other, IMO, both were fun. It simply comes down to whether or not Bungie is able to insert both gameplay and variety.

halo ce had more small and medium sized maps. like 10 of them were actucally used for 2v2s. halo2 is just better for.......btb.

I vastly prefer Halo: CE to Halo 2, and the beta would probably fit in the middle. Bungie is getting better, but CE was a gem. I could explain, but I don't feel like it.

I hear you there. I'm tired of explaining why Halo 1 was/is the most amazing game ever made. Some just "get it", while others do not. And i've come to the realisation that sadly Halo 1 godliness will never be reached again in any Halo franchise.

I'm quite pleased with Halo 3 so far. It's much better than Halo 2. I'm still debating with myself if it's better than Halo: CE. We shall see come September.

  • 06.04.2007 8:34 PM PDT

Good Luck.Dont die.

still prefer halo1. Why? Well not so many weapons. Halo1 is where it all began. Grunts are funnyer. And 20 other reasons. But I would like to see what the chief looks like from halo1 in highres and HD.
