I played the first level and my framerates are ok (comp I installed on has lower specs), sometimes they make it harder to play. I was wondering whether the multiplayer with anywhere between 8-16 players has better or worse framerates as I was going to buy this tommorow.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I found that the MP part has somewhat lower frame rates. It's really noticable in areas like the wide open space on Lockout.

Wait, is he talking about H1PC or H2V? If H2V, I wouldn't know about it, but if he's talking about H1PC, MP has better FPS than campaigns.

Yep, because in campaign, theres huge bsps and all those ai the game has to render. Something multiplayer lacks.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

I'm kinda glad Halo games never got AI. UT2004 prides on it's AI bots....only problem is that most of the online servers are now more full of THEM than they are people. Whereas on Halo MP, you know it's people. Idiots, trolls, morons, 10 year olds and nooby people they are, yes, but people nonetheless.

Wait...

MY THEORY! NOOOOOO! *crash* *creeeeeeoooowwww* *burns*

Sob....

I'm talking H2V... Yah that is what I was thinking too (AI, more sounds, more loading, bigger levels) etc.

Anyone else have a comment on how the perfomance is compared on the two?

In theory, multiplayer should always be faster than single player. The map is usually smaller (therefore once a map is loaded into the memory buffer, it doesn't have to load anything else), but more importantly, the CPU doesn't have to set aside clock cycles for AI.

Eh... Most games go that way but I have better framerates in Half-Life 2 Single Player than in multi so that's why I'm a little worried.

^ Measuring with FRAPS, I get higher FPS in MP than SP (I play at 1680x1050 w/ 2xAA & 8xAF, and everything at max). It might be a steam issue or something in your case. Let me know how it is with Halo 2.

PS: Connection DOES make a difference with FPS, so it could be that.

In SP I get about 50-60fps when it's not loading the map. But in MP I get like 25-40 when I look at the map. but I may get 40-50 when I'm just looking off to a part of the map.

lock out is the best.
