wow, just wow. Now we're complaining because the GUI (user interface) is too user friendly? and because it sais A button, B button ect.
honestly, theres alot more wrong with this world then this. this thread fails, the guy that started this fails, and those who support it ultimatly fail.
If you want to downgrade to another system because your offended by a service that is new and has alot of potential....i'm lost for words....

I didn't complain about the interface but, I can quite easily counter that and say you probably got your first tastes of gaming from a console, and don't really understand my points that probably most of the long time PC gaming community would agree with.

My first real taste of gaming was Doom when I was only 4 (don't worry, it did me no harm), and have been a PC gamer ever since. I know what I like, and what the PC gaming community likes. :)

No, Live Anywhere does, not x-fire.

I have to agree with the post actually.

The whole network is a load of fail (pardon the expression). I liked my PC gaming that way it was. Untouched by the ways of the console.

1) It takes skill to use a keyboard and mouse, but now we'll have to pit ourselves against players using Xbox controllers with their auto aim filth.

2) No game that comes out for Live and has the option to play with Xbox 360 players will ever take advantage of the true power a PC has to offer for the simple reason that it's unlikely we'll see a ported game with vasty superior graphics that can get the most out of a high end PC.

3) I like my dedicated servers. Not so much user created rooms when it comes to FPS. One reason is so everyone can have a fair playing field and not have to worry about being bridged out the game, or have other network related cheats used against them. A sub point here is that the whole system is focused on Americans. Not meaning to offend, but I do like to play against UK players in UK servers where I'm not at a 200-300+ms disadvantage every single game like in Halo 2.

4) It seems the trend is to dumb everything down, including the replacing of ping bars with colour bar charts that will tell you a 200ms ping is A.O.K. Wrong! It's not okay in an FPS. I blame console gaming for this. Oh, also the whole thing with system ratings because people can't be bothered to learn a small amount about hardware.

5) I don't really like having to pay a yearly fee to pay games I own online. This is not the way of PC gaming. I might understand more if it was optional to have access to hundreds of dedicated servers. But, we don't get that.

6) PC gaming is where to go for user created content, I can only see the Live system trying to stomp on that with all their run from the disc plans and so on.

7) I don't like having to sign into one network for all my games (I can see all MS published games doing this with Live). Heck, if I fail to renew my account in time, I've lost my name permanently (you can't recover your Live name if you fail to renew) and bye bye all my stats, friends etc!

I'm sure there are more points, but 7 is good to start.

Alright. Lets begin.
1. Even with Auto-Aim, you don't think that playing with a controller requires skill? I laugh at you for it. I've been playing H2 on the XBOX for a while now. And I am GOOD at it. First try with K+M I beat Cairo Station on legendary dying once.
2. Shadowrun?
3. And what is wrong with the dedicated servers in H2V?
4. I'm sorry to hear the the ping bars offend you.
5. I wonder why Live Silver is free?
6. Psst. There's really no map editor included in H2V!!
7. No comment on this one. Don't lose you account next time I guess. And as for signing in, You don't have to. Just for Online play you do. Hell, you can even have it sign you in automatically. No big deal.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Simple explanation guys, don't use it. You don't like Pokemon, right, so you just don't play it. No problems, no complaints. There's no reason to create a thread about this.

Also if MS' are forcing it down our throats now, we don't have much choice do we?

1) Not nearly as much as a mouse. If you think I'm some push over with a controller, you're quite wrong. Any skilled PC gamer will floor most controller players if they pick up a controller themselves.

2) You think Shadowrun pushes PC hardware to the limit? Please.

3) Nothing probably, except the ping issue if that's how it is. However, focus is being shifted to peer to peer play.

4) Me too.

5) Locks you out of half the features.

6) Not a very good one at that, and we'll see how the distrubution works. It pales compared with those such as UnrealEd.

7) I haven't lost my account.

Oh and 8!

8) Market place? I can go and download demos and content for my PC just fine without paying a sub just for access! Heck, the only content I've been offered through it is if I pay even more dosh!

9) The system is a nice way for them to force pay content on users. I mean, I switched on my Xbox yesterday to find myself locked out of most of Halo 2 matchmaking because I don't want to pay for the new maps!

Let's see. My Xbox. My Internet. My Halo 2 copy. My money for the first two maps. My money for the map pack. My XBL sub. My TV. Damn, they've locked me out of a 2 year old+ game unless I pay up again! Nice!

Hardly anyone has played it. IGN have no reason to make it up though. It's already confirmed Motion blur is removed from PC too.

Wrong... crossplatform gaming has existed before LIVE even existed. Sigh these noobs now a days.

PC players could play against Dreamcast players in Quake III Arena and there was no subscription for that.

H2EK is in the making from another source. More information when it becomes available...

8. What marketplace? Not on PC...
9. They will be made free what the Halo 3 Beta ends. Wait for it.

escuse me? my first gaming expierence was around 1996-1998 on an Pentuim 1.66. My first game, if memory serves me right, was an old DOS gaming called 'Sopwith'. Soon after, another flying game named 'Flying Corps', then 'Hardwar' ect. this lead me to Canada and a game called 'Halo' in 2004. my first 'taste' in console gaming was in 2005 at a friend's house, which I greatly disliked. Clearly my first gaming expierence was not on an console. Does this still count me as a long time standing PC gamer? I understand your points, but for some i do not agree. The biggest portion of the market is brainless console gamers which will buy a game if it has pretty explosions. of course Microsoft is mostly aiming at that portion of the market to leach them off. We call it Captilism. If PC games are 'touched' by a console's features at some points, it's not the end of PC gaming.

Final Fantasy. Not that anyone cares about that.

Moreover: Q3A sux on a console. Its only use was as a PC game. (But it still is a great game, don't get me wrong - but only for PC).

Dreamcast's online community is non-existance today. If you want to play quake 3, go ahead.
