The one who struggles against death is far stronger than the one who simply has no fear of it.

That's rediculous, to make your own custom maps you need 3ds Max, which in of itself is not bad, BUT it also costs $3,500+!!!!! That is just -blam!-ed up! Big time!

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

This is how proprietary software works. It's the best example of how proprietary software publishers work. Money is everything. Loyalty doesn't fit into the equation. When you hit the OK button on the EULA, you are accepting this fact.

3ds Max is what Bungie suggests to use in thier Halo 2 Vista Map maker help files.

I thought I read somewhere that they were gonna make some kind of universal importer/exporter so that H2V mapmaking would be a little more diversified- and not just centered around 3ds Max... I thought I heard Maya was gonna be supported, guess I was wrong then. And if Gmax isn't compatible then that's just sad. I've got 3ds Max but had to get an extended productivity booster in order for it to work on Vista...

I'm not even gonna try to make a map, it makes me confused with all the actual Halo 2 Vista maps and all the other thousand maps that people created.

Let there be CHAOS!

Here's what it sounds like to me lol:

"We do ship with all of the base elements of Halo that you'll see ingame. So if you just want to take the legos approach, you can just build levels."

<_<

Ewww...I'd rather get the real Lego's from my 5 year old cousin, build Coag out of it, video tape it, and release THAT as a custom map...

EDIT: ^ Actually, that might be quite fun and time consuming between me and my cousin...haha, I can just imagine myself controlling a mini Master Chief screaming "BXR nub!".

No, you don't need $3,500 to make maps on Halo 2 V as the game ships with a map editor.

I'm sorry, perhaps I'm not understanding it correctly or just don't want to. You can't create maps with the H2V map editor by itself? Are you -blam!- kidding me? That is the most absurd things ever. How can they expect you to buy a fairly expensive piece of software just to make maps for a 3 year old port? Are they -blam!- out of their minds? The map editor was a significant selling point for porting Halo 2 to PC. Some, myself included, were looking at the map editor as a major reason for buying the game in the first place. Please, someone clarify this... I'm about ready use a wide assortment of tools to take every logo associated with MS off everything I own and smash them with my Louisville Slugger white ash baseball bat, followed by a forced bath in turpentine and a lighting of the torch ceremony in my own backyard.

BTW: if that isn't the case, then disregard the rant.

Wait, you guys sure gmax cannot be used? At 1.20 in the video she explains how the community can write exporters for any art package that they want. She also explains how if users want, they can go as far back as an art package to model their own things. So once it's officially released I would give it a month before exporters are created for the other various art packages (gmax etc). Besides, it's not that hard to pirate 3ds.
