Well, I don't expect to be upgrading to Vista for a while (at least until I upgrade some parts, and until M$ fixes all these POS bugs and errors). So I'm still one of the few veterans of the Maw that has Windows XP.

But even after Vista has already released Windows Vista, XP users are constantly being shelled with these worthless updates. Are these updates (no matter how small they are, they still take up valuable space) even worth it now? Should I just ignore them? I mean after all, I don't see how downloading these annoying updates help protect your computer in anyways. Security Update code 456jh82? Oh God...

Opinions? Comments? Arguments? All are welcome.

PS. Btw, I don't have Vista yet, so I wouldn't know...but are Vista users getting bombed with these annoying little useless updates as well?

Yes the updates are closing security holes in the system and yes every Tuesday both Vista and XP users should expect a little present in their system tray.

So you WANT Microsoft to release updates and fix things..... and you are annoyed with having to download updates and don't see what they can possibly do for you.

Updates are generally always important. Don't think that there is an OS and as soon as a patch is released that it is solved. There is always somebody out there that sees the patch and decides to work around it or even use that patch for their own purposes. It is an on-going thing that will NEVER EVER be solved and you will get updates and patches until the day it is no longer supported.

I have about 60 updates since the start of March, so that's about 20 a month. Although a bucket load of those will be the really old updates for Office2003 when it was re-installed onto Vista and others will be virus updates and defender updates, etc.

I only have about 10 Vista updates in the last three months.

I don't mind the downloading procedure. But the spaces they take up (I know, they are very small, but they are going to end up adding up sooner or later, not to mention I have like no more HD space left), and the whole "omg, li3k u g0tta r35tart ur c0mp dud3" is annoying.
