It never ceases to amaze me how much stock people put in swearing. Saying f'n this and f'n that doesn't make what you say any more intelligent, serious or important. Others seem to have this notion that swearing is a sign of toughness, and marines would logically fall use it because they're 'tough guys.' News flash- swearing will never make you strong, tough, mature or manly, but it will make you seem like a fool with nothing intelligent to say. I know half of you will have trouble understanding this concept, so I don't expect you to change your minds.
Cursing in games adds nothing to their quality. It doesn't even add that much realism. Trust me, if there was not a single f-word or anything else in the entire game you would hardly notice and hardly care. Gameplay is a more important issue afterall. Besides, since when does Bungie care about realism? The year is 2552 and the standard infantry weapon is an OICW that has the accuracy of a MAC11, a grenade launcher replaced with a flashlight and has 60 rounds in a magazine only physically big enough to hold about 30. Zounds! That's what I call realism!
Cursing won't add to the game. It will only alienate younger gamers and disgust anybody who understands that cursing is nothing more than words for people who don't have an argument. If you love swearing so much, just visit your local junior high or high school and casually walk through the halls with non-advanced courses. You'll get your earful.
