Sure there is ranked (Matchmaking) and custom matches, but the only way you can suit the game to the way you play and what you want is your appearence and finding guns if no one else got them already, so what do you think of this. A gametype that actually has a reason to play other than to gain levels. Sure you must gain levels in the process but...

Another ranked version with a slight role playing twist, lets say you can go up to level 50 (this is open for change) like in halo 2, but you start at level 0 or unranked, every time you go up a level you get a leveling point, these leveling points can be used for things such as increasing skill (agility - control how fast you can move/ high you can jump etc. , strength - controls damage of melee, how far you can throw granades and such, gunsmanship - controls how steady you can keep gun and at higher levels gives a very slight auto aim, Stealth - controls how well you can move with out being detected [at low levels you may be detected on radar while crouching, at higher level you can move slowly without crouch and be invisible to radar], and detection - controls distance radar detects how far you can see, at higher levels chance of detecting crouched enemies that are moving[each of these has say 12 levels so you can choose to have some maxed, but you can not max all of them]) or you can use these to say maybe start with a different weapon. Now starting with a different weapon would have it's drawbacks, such as not as much ammo, say 1-2 clips depending on the weapon or half ammo, or some other kind of drawback and not all weapons would be availible to start with, I mean stating with a spartan laser or something is just stupid. for the stats it could be like 1 point for a 1 stat increase, and for gun it could vary for each gun, like say sniper is 3 or four, carbine is 2 or 3, something like that. These should also be able to be reset and redistributed so i may be like," yeah this is not working out so i will take a few off of this stat put them here use assault rifle from start again to free up some more points" or something something like that.

Sure this has room to expnad upon the concept and it has areas that it could change such as the # of levels and different stats they use, but i think it would be fun to play with a guy suited to my play style and against a guy suited to his style. it would make the game more interesting to play against different enemies every time you play. For example say your a beastly sniper, you can increase your marksman so your have a steady shot, at somepoint get yourself starting with the rifle, and build up someother stats along the way. Now lets say your like me and always checking your back, keeping an eye all around, i may gradually build up detection while i build up my other stuff, or say you have a tendency to beat down alot, build up your strength and maybe start with something like the bruteshot with a powerful melee. let me know what you think, but the matchmaking would have to be more strict to the levels so that a low level is not playing with high level, cause that would leave the game unbalanced, and in this type, bungie could eliminate going down in levels and just make it take longer to go up. This would not only rid the gametype of deleveling which most of us hate, but also be useful for this gametype.

P.S. support your response to the poll please.

Yeah i guess you are right, wasn't thinking at the time and forgt this is the last halo. and to answer the other person i know this is not an rpg it is a shooter, but none the less it couldn't hurt to try something different in addition to what has already been established. matchmaking has already gained enough that even if this mode were to fail the entire game would not fall apart. but i do see where you are coming from at the same time.
