I am wondering why it was decided to make the game vista only. I figured it's because maybe they couldn't implemented Live on XP or it was to show off the new Vista features. Anyone has any technical information that will explain this to me?

I don't want to hear any foolishness about selling Vista. Microsoft is a billion dollar company and do not rely on a game to sell an OS. They make their money from OEM builders not the few people that buy the OS in stores.

Promote Vista.

That's it. There's no reason why Windows Live or Halo 2 could not run on XP.

Then you don't want to hear the real answer, obviously.

from what i've gathered from other people, it's because of the live features that is implanted into Vista.

Live would still be able to run on XP. But, why would they continue making any of their new products for XP? XP is their old operating system. Vista is their current operating system. They've moved on. This is no different than when they released XP. Why would they keep selling products that work with Windows 2000? They wanted to move on to XP.

Guess what? Thats how Micro$ft works. They put a game EVERYONE would wanna buy and put it on a horrible OS. (like resistance on the PS3). lol.

Live is not needed for Halo 2, there is no crossplatform. Also It's not Directx 10 therefore vista is not needed again.

Anyway we've had crossplatform gaming before vista existed, so entirely vista is a pos. I only have it, because I want directx 10 and so far I haven't found a single reason to actually have it.

But Hired Gun is a different team then Microsoft. It may be owned by bungie/microsoft, but that doesn't mean they have the same charatiristics. Yeah they have greed, it's called Captilism: they need money to survive. but that doesn't inpact in any way how much the game can/will be rushed. In fact, it should be Vice Versa: not rushed and better quality so more people will buy the game.

Hired Gun are employees of Microsoft, and are not a company.

Bungie is a company owned by Microsoft.

You obviously never used Vista or your PC is a dinosaur. Vista has been really fast and the best thing is it never slows down even after installing so many applications. I cannot see myself going back to XP.

So i guess no one knows the answer to my question.

XP doesn't slow down either as long as you keep things in check and know what you're doing.

When you begin piling up services, that's when the problems begin and on any OS.

You know I remember peoplw were acting like this when Xp came out. They were like Windows 98 is so much better, it uses less memory blah blah blah. How many people are still using 98?

There were several operating systems between 98 and XP, and yes, some people still use 2000.

Microsoft pretty much told them that it had to be done asap. They could not spend any time making it better for the pc and work out some of the problems. MS just said, "CONVERT IT NOW!".

Most likely had hired gun's employees at gunpoint too.

H2v is not going to promote vista.
Live is going to promote vista. And if H2v wanted to have live, then, well, ya.

Same thing.

There is no Live without H2PC.

As it's said, Live is intergrated with installation of H2PC, not before.

Games for Windows Live -- only for Windows Vista.

Halo 2 Vista -- Games for Windows Live title.

It kinda works out if you have a brain.
