Crashes are almost always from the lack of ram. Anything under 2GB will get you in trouble with H2V.

Glitches are from settings the Level of Detail setting to anything buy High. (Med has only a few, but enough to notice every once in a while... Low is crap...)

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I haven't had any problems with the game, save for one time that Live disconnected me in the middle of a game.

  • 05.22.2007 6:16 PM PDT

What it is.

I haven't notice one bug since I've owned it(since Sunday). There has only been some frame rate issues for me when i start a game. Like I'll load a map and I'll only get like 20fps, then i have to disable AA then re-enable it and i get like 40 fps...iono what that is, the game or the drivers but i hope it gets fixed...

Lack of RAM causes sluggishness, not crashing. So long as the page file is large enough.

Glitches? I don't know, or to say it better, I can't know.

Crashes, well. Most likely to crash after some 10minutes of gameplay.

And yes, I had my system checked, all the new drivers installed and last but not least I've got 2gb of RAM.

I've got a delimma, my game crashes! However this crash doesn't occur 10 minutes in, it does not occur on the cairo mission, nor does it occur on the video cutscene of the covenants in the first level. My game, and vista for that matter, crashes right after it shows the bungie logo and that other video are shown, before gameplay, before the menu options even.

I've had a friend mention that there were issues with the GeForce 8800 series cards and the game, but I haven't seen anything on that yet. Does anyone else have this issue? If so what hardware are you running. If you have a GeForce 8800 card, does it work for you?

Thanks

Lack of RAM can cause the game to crash, the first indicator is sluggishness, but if it continues or gets progressively worse the game can stop responding. Nick is wrong in saying that RAM always causes a game to crash. There are many reasons that can cause a game to crash. Lack of RAM, CPU overload, overheating, etc.

Let there be CHAOS!

I'm pretty sure low is just glitchy. I remember when I was trying to see how high I could get the frames and I turned everything as low as it would go, and the frames just seemed to get worse and the game froze on me.

It crashes a lot for me in the Oracle level. I do not know why. Also it seems to lose level saved data based on error messages from Live where it states the level on my computer and Live do not match, and restarts the Level. Also do not know why? Vista has not found a solution yet from the Submit problem to Microsoft dialog boxes.

Ok so I couldn't find anything on compatability issues with the 8 series. It turns out my original must've been a bad copy. I went to circuit city and exchanged it. It did crash on me once but I was messing with video settings, since then I have not experienced any problems. Got through a whole level last night with no errors.

Now I just hope it doesn't crash in other unexpected areas.

I'm having the exact same problem...BSOD right after the Bungie logo during install; I never get to menu options. I've updated drivers for my 8800 gts, thinking that was the problem, but that didn't help. I've also tried the suggestions on windows games support. I wonder if the 8800 is incompatable with Halo 2. Other games are working fine. I guess I'll wait for patches...

It seems to run fine for me! I have an iMac with 1gb of ram. Vista in general has been smooth sailing for me.

Obi - how often does a CPU overheat while you're playing Halo 2? If you ever play a game, and it's not outside in the summer, and you didn't overclock and you CPU overheats you better hope that the GAME isn't making it overheat. I'd put crashes up to loose code and maybe a lack of RAM.

How do I have CUSTOM key/mouse/gamepad button mappings?? Their profiles stink! Are we limited to these 4 profiles?

Yes it seems this game when largely untested before its launch. But in typical MS/Bungie fashion they don't seem to acknowledge it at all.

Worst is some graphics tearing in fast pace, but its probably just some problem with my hardware setup.
