You should definitely be able to play on at least low.

I have an old Dell Inspiron 9300 (put 2GB of RAM into it) that can play BF2142 on all low fine. So, you should be good. If you do have problems though, just get 2GB of RAM.

You'd probably get by barely with Halo 2 on low settings and like a 640x480 resolution. Xbox quality so can't be too bad- that is if the game doesn't say something like "system requirements not met" but I doubt that would happen. You've got an integrated graphics chipset so it will be kinda laggy- especially in campaign. You're best moments in performance would probably be just when you're running around on Coagulation alone because more players and network activity would add to the burden.

Just because the application only offers 800x600 doesn't mean you can't add arguements to your desktop icon like in the command prompt to FORCE Halo 2 to run in your own resolutions. As for the UI I think you people who started out with mid to high end stuff know nothing about what a low-end GPU, even integrated can do. I started out with one and ran Halo 1 great medium settings on 800x600 like 40+FPS- with an ATI Radeon XPress 200M (64MB SHARED). Of course I had to disable a lot of services and get rid of all the other junk that comes with the "package deal" ... BUT I also know that Halo 2 does include a lot of unnecessary graphics for a game so old and for just the Xbox. It should have more to it then just low, medium, high but AA, frame buffering options, texture blending, antistropic filtering, render to texture, transform/lighting- and so on. I mean, if you could run Halo PC good you "should" be able to run Halo 2- but I guess Hired Gun didn't think it that way.

Why is everyone attempting to run with a gma950? I'd be surprised if you get more than 15-20 FPS ingame.

ummm no

i have a 6200 witch on the vista scale rates 3 and the GMA hes talking about rates a 1 or something for gaming, and i can BARELY handle H2V. im thinking a 6200 is X2 if not more better then the GMA. i started with a intergrated SiS chip and got 10 FPS on BG all low. and least what i know H2V does not support command arguments

the UI gets about 15-20 FPS on all low and in single player its about a solid 30

If your pc starts out as something like this:

AMD +6000 x64
GeForce 8800GTX
4GB DDR2 (Room for 4 more)

Then welcome to the modern world, the "we will send you strapping broke just for keeping up with all these new fangled inventions" modern world, the 8800GTX has just a 1 year expected life span before you need to upgrade just to stay on top, but its just worth it, especially when i've got my old 7800GTX as my new paper weight.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

That GMA will never run it at a playable speed. Quit trying to game on laptops unless you are prepared to pay at least $2000.

The 8800GTX is pretty much top of the 8 Series, so it's not like they'll pull a 9 Series out on us next year. Now just because you bought your 7800GTX close to the release of the 8 Series, doesn't mean you should be bitter about upgrading.
