I know these forums aren't exactly techy-filled, but I was curios, does any one know of a way to use hard drive space or a flash drive to supplement video memory? Kind of like a page file or a ready boost for your video card... I doubt this is possible, but I thought I'd ask, just to check.

Thanks,
- Flappy

Hmmm I doubt this is possible. If it was, it would already be implemented in the operating system because adding this would require major rewriting of the kernel. (or a usb port on your video card :-) )

It's not possible, some graphics cards use system RAM for extra memory and even that's painfully slow compared to video RAM.

For example, a lot of laptop cards don't actually have any video memory at all. They just use a certain amount of system RAM. This is why most laptops are horrible for gaming.

Remember though, Video RAM isn't everything though, I've seen low end x300 cards with 512 megs of RAM on them. even though it has all that memory it'll still run games like crap just because the GPU is slow.

There two totally different kinds of memory, non compatible. Nice try though.
