The gripes I had with the flood were the level they were in, and they're look. The actual concept of them is quite cool, especially in the part where you run through the swamp before the library level. Seeing marines die all around you, using your radar to figure out where they are, its got a very Alien-esque feel to it.

The main prob was the context of the flood, ie the levels, and the rushed nature of them. They seemd visually not as fleshed out as the covenant. However, in Halo 2, I think they will be a genuinly thrilling enemy, with improved visual style and dual-weilding, and of course better level design, I think they will add a lot to the game.

I liked the chaotic nature they presented, it really felt like everything was going to hell, but of course, there was the obvious flaws in there visual style and the way they were presented, in boring, bland and repetitive environments.

Is it just me, or is AHaloPlayer annoying the crap out of you too? I can't stand anything you've mentioned in your posts in the least AHaloPlayer...and in no way can I understand where you're coming from. I hope to "GOD" they don't do anything you hope they do. See this?...this is me praying they don't do what you want.

Posts like this are sad. I don't see why it's so hard for people to grasp simple concepts. Halo is a game, it is not meant to be the most realistic game in the world. It is meant to be fun, and I hope we all would all agree it is. And I know Bungie is making sure that Halo 2 is going to be fun as well. I'm glad to hear from E3 that it feels the same, and knowing that they are adding a bunch of stuff to it to enhance the experience. I also know that when I get the game that it probably will have some things missing that I would have liked to see in it. But that's not going to get me worked up, or lessen how much I enjoy the game. In fact, it probably won't be more than a few seconds thinking "oh, I wish it would of had that in there", but it won't be more than a quick thought. In fact it will probably be filled with a lot of "wow, that's awesome".

My point is that this is a game, it is meant to be fun, and you are only hurting yourself by nitpicking every damn game you play and trying to find stuff wrong with it. Instead of looking at the negatives try looking at the positives.

"perhaps the most annoying, they let themselves get run over at the drop of a hat." - In this quote for example, yeah the marines are stupid, don't let that ruin your experience, instead laugh at them for being stupid, or learn to drive better so you don't run them over. I noticed they liked to get ran over a lot so I just adjusted my driving and now they don't get ran over any more. Same goes for using the warthog for cover. Yeah it is annoying if you're trying to use a warthog for cover and you accidently jump into it. So again, use a different tactic. Avoid using the warthogs for cover, and if you have to use them then learn to use them but still keep your distance enough so you don't jump in them. I use warthogs for cover often and 99% of the time don't have a probelm not jumping in them, and that 1% I do jump in I'm not going to whine or get pissed off about it, it's my fault for getting to close. I know their easy to jump into, I should've kept my distance better. As far as you complaints about the plot points, the driving in the last level (I loved), and the flood appearing (again, really cool twist), if you don't like that kind of stuff buy a different game. Hell, even since you say you love Halo and have beat it, just don't play those levels. Oh and that also reminds me, don't complain about a game if you're lacking in skill, you mentioned that the big jump on the last level is a random chance for whether it kills you or not. That's BS and just shows that you can't drive good in the game. If you have your warthog lined up correctly with the proper speed, then you will land it successfully every time. If I'm wrong about this then I must be the luckiest sob and I need to go buy a lottery ticket. I too have died on that jump but it was never a random account, it was always because I aimed wrong or didn't get good enough speed, but I've successfully made that jump 100% of the time the last several times I've played that level. In fact I think I've maybe only unintentionally died at that jump about five to ten times in the two plus years I've had the game, so I know it isn't hard, if you're skilled.

And again as far as most of the stuff you complained about not liking and wanting changed, it's part of the game. Quit focusing on the negatives and just enjoy the positives. Most importantly just have fun, if you can't have fun with the game, get a different game. If you don't play games to have fun then for god's sake find something else to do with your time, because games are meant to be fun.

I will say however, as far as supporting widescreen, since they aren't being rushed this time around I don't see any reason why they won't support widescreen. I know I will enjoy this for my widescreen TV, but it also never bothered me in Halo. I would also like to see the auto-aiming be able to turn completely off, but this is a very minor concern. That really is the only two things you mentioned I'd like to see added, everything else was either fine the way it is or was useless to mention because it's been confirmed it's being improved on.

And with that, goodnight everyone.

I agree about the marine thing. Me and my friend usualy revert to saved if we get too many marines killed and this isn't helped by them standing in the open, shouting inane things and getting plastered from all directions. Though i do like the voice acting, they just need to be a bit more nimble and not dive so time consumingy.

Urgh Eglasser, shutup. Stop trying to defend Halo. It's a damn good game but it aint perfect. Besides this thread is for moaning not flaming other peoples opinions. Just cos you like the end section doesn't mean everyone else should. Personaly i love it but that's just me.

I have mixed feelings about the flood, sometimes it can be huge fun fighting off waves off them with a shotgun and other times they can be so damn annoying.

yeah, its awesome when they jump the bridge in two betrayals....
Anyway... they are annoying, and its only because of the levels they are presented in, as said before, (though i enjoy fighting the Covenant more, due to their personalities)
But the marines will be better,
the auto aiming is natural i think, its hard to notice in the heat of a battle...
and one thing i woud like to say, the end race is very cool, i enjoyed every bit of it...
(the pillar of autumn is a smaller one of the human ships) there are bigger ones, but they didnt make it off reach....

Umm, they made the driving - crashing into people physics more real.... if you just tap them, they will only get hurt, not die...

umm, yeah, picking up flag, and getting in warthogs is done by holding X

and i'd leave the driving the way it is, you cant tell me its not fun...

(back on the aiming, have you tried fighting a friend in co-op on that, its alot harder to hit them in an awkward terrain with an assault rifle) is is fine the way it is...
I guess it couldnt hurt to add a difficulty in between legendary and heroic, i mean it would be more of the game to play, and would give slightly more training for legendary!

In no logical order, my opinion on your key concerns.

One. Your concerns regarding third-person driving - in my eyes, absurd. Emphasis on this being my opinion.

Two. The flood? Truthfully, I almost agree with you on this one. While I don't think there's anything wrong with the initial twist, I just find the Covenant much more satisfying and exciting to play against. Waves of mindless abominations has the potential to become quite redundant. The Library! Err... What?

Three. Widscreen - I do believe this has already been addressed, but if not, Bungie has stated that widscreen support will be provided in the sequel.

Four. Stupid Marines. While not the brightest, arguably the best group of companions any game (of the time) has to offer. As far as Halo 2's companions? I think it's a very safe bet that again, Bungie will provide the best AI to date.

Oh yeah, and the auto-aim thing? That dude made a very valid point when he suggested shooting a team mate. So I'm not even going to bother with that, other than to say that I do believe Bungie realized/realizes that console aiming is at a huge disadvantage to PC/mouse aiming. I think the little help was an answer to the whole analog aiming problem.

I forgot the most important thing! The final Warthog run? Pure genius! I'm sorry you didn't find it fitting and rather dissapointing, but the first time I played through it, it was an event of truly epic proportions. So I'm going to have to whole-heartidly disagree with you on that one. To bring it down to a mere "obstacle course" could easily be considered an emense injustice to Halo itself. I'm sorry you were unable to find the excitement in the final run, you're missing out.

First, I don't give a -blam!- if I'm annoying you guys, I don't really care if you flame me either, I'm posting I few things that I think should be added, but all you do is -blam!- about it. I have completed the game inside out. I have played multiplayer extensively. So I think I have the right to voice a few minor things that irritate me without getting remarks like "HAVE A CRY", Yeah, moron, I'm gonna have a long hard cry about how some people on a boring forum don't like my ideas. Oh no, it's the end of the world, I'll just go and slit my wrists.

(and for the very slow, no I am not going to slit my wrists)

And egassler, wow, so my post is 'sad'. Ironically, after telling people to "grasp the concept", you seem yet to have grasped the simple concept that this is a thread with the intent of improving a few minor flaws. Not -blam!-ing about a few small things for the hell of it. And since you provided me with so much to deal with, allow me to make a few points in return

It is meant to be fun

No -blam!-, you must have thought long and hard about that one.

My point is that this is a game, it is meant to be fun, and you are only hurting yourself by nitpicking every damn game you play and trying to find stuff wrong with it. Instead of looking at the negatives try looking at the positives.

I'd have thought that playing the game frequently for about 2 years and enjoying it very much so would count as being positive.

Yeah, I feel the pain too when I point out something that could be improved. And I don't "nitpick every damn game and [try] to find stuff wrong with it". The reason for this thread is to get them fixed, not so I can have a nice long moan at bungie.

learn to drive better so you don't run them over

Of course, when you want to drive but you're surrounded by marines eager to end their lives, driving ability has a huge effect on whether you can manage to miss them from point blank range.

but still keep your distance

Great idea, and when I use that rock for cover, I'm gonna stand 50 meters behind it. That should provide me with really effective cover.

That's BS and just shows that you can't drive good in the game.

Clearly, I am lacking in skill when I die after a perfect landing. And if I was BS at it, how would I have completed it in the 5 minutes on Ledgendary? And for driving skill, if you care to give me a game on the Halo PC trial, we'll see just how "BS" I am then? Being able to avoid an entire teams grenades, rockets, and fuel rod cannon shots in CTF without team backup as a distraction counts as being pretty damn good in my opinion.

tell me you didn't say "holly crap thats cool" the first time you saw a flood do a 100 foot jump.

Actually I only thought about blowing the bastard apart from point blank range with my shotgun.

1. I manage just fine with auto aim turned off, and the fact that my aim gets moved irritates me because A. I don't need auto aim, I'm excellent without it, having completed the game on all difficulties (except Easy which I've never even tried) and B. I turned it off for a reason: I don't want it.

Perhaps the best solution would be to offer 3 options for auto aim

Full
Partial (like Halo offers when 'off')
None.[/quote]

Ok this is from a guy that can't even drive a warthog....ok 2 a halo player from a true halo player try and hit "ME" with the pistol let alone anyone that can drive a warthog.. Im sure you would end up breaking your tv in with your foot.

I think the LITTLE autoaim we have with halo is gonna stay. Don't think bungie wants 2 loose out on some mega loads of cash!

Now with your point on the flood. Its just something they put in the game due to the story... If you have time read the books! They will fill you in on whats 2 come and what happend before halo.

The marines are the worst soldiers I have ever seen in my life! The only 1s that are worth keeping on the battlefield would be the snipers. They will kinda help ya out even on ledgendary. The reason the marines are so weak "I think' is becasue in the story the covenants out power them 10 to 1.... The humans were made 2 lose! their only hope... is the master chief! If only could understand what he can really do. Ever watched trigun? kinda like that but with more firepower.

AHaloPlayer,

Your initial argument and concerns had merit and were expressed and developed in an intelligent manner. Unfortunately, you just threw out any credibility your argument might have had with that last post.
