I can't help but laugh. That which I predicted is starting...

PC Gamer Magazine. A 6.6 out of 10. "Halo 2, you see, isn't truly awful, it's just achingly, repulsively mediocre, with a galumphing, clumsy story, poorly orchestrated action and bad music. It lacks bombast to the point where the nuclear destruction of a city on Earth doesn't seem all that dramatic."

Gameshark. B-. "Run-of-the-mill shooter."

Snackbar Games. Reviewer rating: Strictly Rental. Community Rating: Awful.

Gamedaily.com 7 out of 10. "Better than before, but it's not good enough to upgrade."

GamingNexus 8 out of 10. Not bad, but the review doesn't fit the rating. "you really aren't missing that much with the PC version"

Yahoo Games. 8 out of 10. "But all the philosophizing in the world isn't going to change the fact that it's a port of a three-year-old game that we've all played to death, and try as we might, we just can't get excited about that."

Metacritic. 75% of critics generally favorable. Users: 5.0 out of 10. "Christ on a bike, though, it's ugly. I mean like school bus traffic accident ugly. (PC Format)"

That's all I can find right now. For a game that hasn't been properly released yet, that's pretty bad. Which is pretty good for me...

It should also be noted that there are some favorable reviews, up to a 9.2 out of 10 by Gamezone
However, that and other reviews make no secret of the fact that all they played was a review build, and it's questionble if they even played that. Gamezones states "you can play the Campaign in co-op mode from start to finish." Yeah. Not so much.

I'll try to keep this updated as new reviews become available.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The first two reviews are just devastating in their candor. This top down, M$/Bungie/Hired Gun, management is very bad for the creative process. Too many cooks in the kitchen, and too many back-seat drivers...

PC Format: 6.5 out of 10.
"Christ on a bike, though, it's ugly. I mean like school bus traffic accident ugly. [June 2007, p.52]"
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/halo2?q=halo%202

Ignore the scores that are in the 90s and 80s, they have obviously not even played it. For example GameZone states.. "You can play the game co-op from start to finish..." which is obviously bogus.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2128054,00.asp An article about Live Anywhere. More T-bombs (truth).

"If you want publishers and gamers to embrace Live on the PC, you have to give them everything they get for free now, only better, and still free. That's the way the world works: People don't pay more to get less. "

"Tell me, does a company that cares as deeply about the success of Windows as a gaming platform as it does about the Xbox wait two and a half years to bring their big hit first-person shooter to the PC? No, but that's what they've done with Halo 2. What's more, they're charging full price for it—a nearly three-year-old game that costs $30 new on the Xbox costs $50 on the PC. It looks like a three year old game, too…visually, it's dramatically inferior to other current AAA PC games. Given how deeply this game is integrated into Live and how they want to make the "real" Live experience a paid subscription thing on the PC, they should be giving away the PC version of Halo 2 with every copy of Vista. At the very least, it should be a budget title. Just when the Xbox 360 owners get all hyped up about the vastly superior Halo 3, the Vista users get a port of a 2.5-year-old game they should have had access to simultaneously with Xbox owners back in 2004. This does not demonstrate that Microsoft cares about the PC as a game platform as much as their console business; in fact, it clearly demonstrates the opposite. "

Yep. It's all a big conspiracy to get people to buy Halo 2 Vista.

I have officially lost interest in Halo 2.

Today after work I went down to my local EB Games and asked them what the deal was. Their answer "I have no idea." And I don't blame them.
Then I went up the street to futureflop. I didn't see it on the shelf there and didn't even consider asking any of the staff, because, generally speaking, they don't really know what they're talking about. And with a release as FUBAR'd as Halo2, well, it's sort of like asking a chimp to build you a spaceship.

Based on all the crappy reviews, horrible release/notification/recall/funny business, there is simply no WAY I am giving them $60 for this title. I'll wait until it goes on sale for $25. And even then.... I'll have to think about it.

Picked up Stalker in the mean time. Should be a nice change of pace.

I think you might start to get a little pissed at the infinitely looping combat music if you played trough Singleplayer for twelve hours straight.

Have you played the game? If so, then you would know that the music is different in each level/set of levels.

whats sad is that almost everyone on this particular thread is QQin about a game that when it came out was the -blam!-. everyone wanted it, blahblahblah. anyway, most gamin magazines are saying it looks like crap because the reviewer has either never played a game in his life, or he/she/it was playing on a POS rig with a TNT2 videocard with 8 mbs of shared memory. so before you judge a game that is out on multiple platforms, try it and see how you like it.

frankly i love it, because it looks good on my rig and even though i already have it for the Xbox, im still finding new things to do on it. so im not complaining.

Yeah, the first time I saw that I knew it was complete BS because Halo 2 Vista was not going to be that good, regardless or not these guys actually played it.
