Ok, I've had the game since Sunday now, and its been perfectly fine. I picked up my copy from Circuit City late Sunday night. When I got home I started up the installer, but didn't want to use the Tray and Play install option since I was going to go downstairs and get something to eat. Once I was done getting what I wanted to eat the game was installed, and at the main menu. I was so happy that it worked. I signed into live within minutes; it has to download your profile the first time you log on. Well, over the past few days the amount of people getting on has been very, very slow. The Sunday night there was one game going on with about 12 people in it, Monday there was only about 6 more people on compared to Sunday night, Tuesday there were about 3 games going each had about 12 - 16 people in them, and then today there was about 4 - 5 games going and each one had a nice number of people in them.

I original thought the game was going to come out yesterday (May 22nd), but after logging on today and joining a game with only 8 people I found out the reason. Circuit City, the only place that was selling them, has put up a recall on Halo 2 Vista due to an error in the installation process. I thought that was complete bull-crap since I had already installed the game perfectly fine. Well, in that game were a few people saying that they had the error, and it was while using the Tray and Play feature. You can choose to play the game as it installs, however; in Halo 2 Vista it does NOT work!! After I left that party I went into another party and over half the people there said that about 1 minute into the installation via Tray and Play they encountered one of the following errors...1) Game simply just froze, 2) Blue Screened, or 3) Backed out to Desktop. Many of the people in those games said those were the errors they received and that they tried re-installing it with the Tray and Play, but it didn't work. They said they just went back into the installer and chose the "Install and Play Later" or the "Install and then Play" option...I had picked "Install and then Play" at the very beginning.

A few people said that the Tray and Play feature worked, but afterwards the game was doing some weird stuff, and couldn't connect to Live, so they had to re-install.

So the reason for the Recall is most likely the Tray and Play not working, and the simple fix is to select "Install and Play Later" or "Install and then Play" (launches game right after installation finishes.) Of course, if you honestly need that Tray and Play feature, then you will have to wait a little longer. If not, and you can get your hands on the game or already have it in your hands, reading this, then there is your easy fix...brought to you by the people who have already been playing for the past few days.

Edit: I underlined Tray and Play to show what the problem most likely was...

Why are you underlining tray and play? Are you some kind of idiot?

jk, jk

Interesting. I never liked the idea of tray and play, this just proves my point.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I had no problems with Tray & Play.

I had no problem with tray and play either. I even called Microsoft support and they said it was not recalled. It was recalled for the May 8th release but not this one.

I'd also like to add that Circuit City called me and told me there was a Recall only for those who are having problems with their discs. Obviously im not :p

Neither did I, I figure that it is going to lag alot while im playing it, and all I would have done while it was installing that way would be customizing my Spartan...no real need to have the game installing in the back ground just for that...

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity

I did experience problems with T&P. Game installed and was playable but it had no audio at all. Any other of my windows apps worked fine. I uninstalled the game and re-installed it with the Install and do not do anything afterwards... game is being running smooth since.

And yes the folks online are just a few. I played against the same guy in 3-4 different servers yesterday and for a PC game, that's quite unusual.
