So I'm running on an 'ol Intel motherboard that supports a 478 Socket Processor. Now I want to upgrade from my Celeron to This P4 but my Motherboard says it only supports a 400/533 MHz system bus for P4 processors.

Now I don't know when that's been updated (if ever) and I also don't know if you put in a faster processor is it backwards compatable? (like RAM). So I'm not too savvy when it comes to motherboards, so my question is: Will my new Processor run on my motherboard?

I know I typed alot but I tried to make my question as simple as I could. Any help is greatly appreciated : )

Edit: Oh and will I see a decent performace boost from this upgrade?

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Typically what happens is you multiply the FSB with the multiplier to get the rated speed. SInce that one runs at 200 Mhz QDR which leaves a multiplier of 15. Put that in the 533 MHz FSB which is 133 MHZ QDR you get a processor speed of 2 GHz. So basically it will not work or it will run at 2 GHz.
