Has anybody noticed that the entire set up of H2V is tailored to players with the 360 controller? What is the point of taking 2 1/2 to port something and try to make it exactly how it was on the XBOX? The mouse movements in this game are so sluggish you can barely turn around even when you have the sensitivity on 10. I really dont know what they were thinking when they made this game.

Yeah, people who made this game are complete retards, I think you shouldn't even be able to play with a controller. Go play -blam!- xbox. The whole point to port console games to PC is good mouse and Keyboard support.

Okay, but this is Halo 2 we're talking about, a console title built and made around for the Xbox gamepad. In any other FPS, yes. :)

Halo 1 PC was meant to be played with a M/KB and it too was a console title built for the Xbox controller. Why can't Halo 2 PC be the same?

Controller. K+B is skillless IMO. Don't Argue. It just is.
And in Halo 2, the M+K controls are horrible anyways. I don't know why anyone would put up with that.

Controller is a retarded way to play fps...

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I use a controller for HPC and H2V.

I just find it easier since I started playing Halo on the Xbox.

I still use KB/M for games like AA, RvS, CSS, and basically anything but Halo, Halo 2, and SCDA.

Arguing. Just because the keyboard and mouse is more capable, precise, responsive, and accurate than a controller does not mean it takes less skill to use than a controller. You might say there's a larger gap in between the level of skill with the people who use the mouse and keyboard than with the people who use the controller.

Yeah it takes so much skill with a controller that it's impossible to play without auto-aim which actually makes it easy lol. Anyways, I prefer m/kb, but I like the controller too. It has nothing to do with skill, it's a video game for blam's sake.

And my keyboard controls aren't horrible. You know you can change them right? Yeesh, who would reach all the way over to 'n' to voice chat? lol.

All i've been playing with for the past like 6 days is the wireless controller. It totally depends on what type of gamer you are. I've been pwning online with the wireless controller, and when I asked them what they were using, M/KB or controller, it was a mixed response. If you are the type of person who has never owned a console, but has played computer games all their life then they will most definitely go to the M/KB. However, if you have been using console games since like the Atari 2600, then you will probably go with a controller. Then you have the people in between that play on both "systems", like me. My thoughts on this was...it's Halo 2, it was meant to be played with a controller. I've also been playing with a controller since the day it came out. :p

Except that many PC gamers have more or less played their first video game on a console. Like me. I grew up with the Nintendo 64 and the PlayStation. Then it was the PS2. Followed by the Xbox 360. I play on consoles and PCs. Over time, I've found out that the mouse and keyboard is the superior utility for pwning noobs. However, considering this is Halo 2 Vista, I wouldn't see anything wrong with choosing either device. Like I've been saying, it's been built around the gamepad, for the gamepad.

I honestly prefer neither the Mouse and Keyboard nor the Xbox 360 controller. Who's with me for playing H2V with the good ol' fashioned Joystick.

I guess you can also play the game with the Guitar Hero controller, but it doesn't work as well. Wouldn't it be cool if you could play Halo with your mind as the controller?

Keyboard and mouse for the win!

Why buy halo 2 vista if you're going to play with a controller?

  • 05.24.2007 6:16 PM PDT

Slaying noobs since 2007.

I use both, but I only use the controller when I have to and/or when I want to feel explosions that are right freaking next to me.

I have to say, Halo 2 Vista--incuding everything associated with it and encompassing advertising and those charged with the botched releases (yes, that's plural)--sucks. WTFH is Microsoft trying to prove by changing aspects of PC gaming that are favored by the masses? For example,--since we are talking about KB&M/Controller in this thread--why in the hell are the character keys at the bottom of some Halo 2 Vista screens representative of an Xbox controller, when the -blam!- game is being played on a PC(whose primary input components are keyboards and mice)?!?!? Yes, it is a very small detail, but wtf? Are they trying to monopolize and control yet another aspect of computing? If so, they can go -blam!- themselves.

Cheers.

Oh, and "shut up" in advance.

/end outrageous harangue.

LOL. That's a good question. I guess because I finished the H2V Campaign I just got bored. Didn't realize it would be as short as it was.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I play with controller when I'm messing around or lazy, mouse+keyboard otherwise.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when Shadowrun comes out H2V will be cross-platform right? If that's right, it's prolly why they made the movements much slower on a M and K. The makers don't want PC players having a major advantage over Xbox players. I've been hearing they've been doing the same thing with Shadowrun. Again I'm not sure this information is viable, and please do correct me if I'm wrong.

No, the reason Halo 2 Vista has such crappy mouse and keyboard controls is due to the fault of Hired Gun, I don't think it was intentional.

I'm not so sure about Shadowrun, but I have heard they're going to lock the framerate on the PC version so PC gamers don't have the advantage of smoother visuals than those on the 360, which, in my honest opinion, is completely retarded.
