the Health Pack. For the love of God, the Health Pack. Everyone complains about the pistol, auto-aim, etc. but health in Halo CE makes... well it makes sense. I die a little bit inside when I sit across the map in H3 or H2 with a Battle Rifle and waste my very limited ammo just to watch as my enemy takes cover before I can kill him, knowing, basically I just did absolutely nothing but give away my position. I will not have an easier chance to kill him later in the fight... I have just been punished for seeing my enemy and shooting him 4-5 times.

Others say that the blast radius on explosions is what makes nades ultimately worthless, but it seems that losing health in CE is really what nades were all about. You can no longer flush out a camper as easily because all they have to do is dodge nades long enough to regenerate their shield. Fool you once with a nade... fool you twice too bad you're dead.

Health also made the game more fast paced. I don't sit around behind a rock all game in BG or around a corner in Damny, because if a nades hits me I am much easier to kill later. Unlike the most recent Halo titles it is NOT an advantage to be stationary. If you have full health in Halo CE you use it to get from point A to point B.

A Multiplayer game where your previous battles mean something? Unheard of.

i would say yes cause it gives halo3 more of a challenge and brings back memories from the halo:CE.

No, Halo 2 did it right with only shields because in real life, you don't have 'health', you take as much damage as you can take before you die

And also in real life after you've been hit by half of a clip from an assault rifle and are on the verge of death, you can hide behind a rock for a few seconds and then walk out as if nothing had happened.

I agree with the OP. I want the pistol back, but that isn't the reason that I quit playing Halo 2 a few weeks into it. And it isn't the reason that I won't be purchasing Halo 3. Of the very few reasons that I dislike both Halo 2 and Halo 3, no health is probably the main one (either no health or no drop damage).

So you hate the games because the overpowered pistol wasn't brought back and because of a few smart tweaks in the game's health systems? If you ask me, that isn't a good reason to hate Halo 2 and 3 (and you can't even say Halo 3 sucks because it hasn't even been released yet)

You're not gonna get Halo 3, fine, miss out, nobody cares

I wasn't asking you. Apparently quite a few people care about the same issues that I care about. And I believe that the Halo 3 beta is quite a good indication of what to expect from Halo 3 once it is released. I also didn't feel that I should list every aspect of the newer installments in the series that has been changed from the original. There are plenty of reasons beyond the "smart tweaks in the game's health system" and the pistol being removed that I dislike Halo 2 and 3.

Which game is superior? It's all subjective, so it does no good to try and argue the subject. I'm not on here constantly complaining about Halo's sequels. I simply replied in agreement to the OP. We have every right to state our feelings on the subject. I don't want them to completely change the game to my preferences. I want options. Instead of not purchasing the game, I'd rather Bungie actually listen to some of the Halo: CE fans and bring back the option to have health, drop damage, etc. I don't understand why everyone is against more options which would please many more people.

I wasn't trying to attack you, only your statement. The same group of people that complain about the pistol from CE not being realistic, or the health not being realistic, also have no problem dropping 300 feet to the ground while taking no damage or even being stunned. They love the idea of the man cannon, banshees, plasma weapons, bubble shields, spartan lasers, infinite regeneration of shields, etc. So only the portion of the game that they don't like has to be more realistic, while the rest can remain in tact? I have absolutely no problem with most people stating that they enjoy both Halo 2 and 3 more than they enjoy Halo: CE. Like I said earlier, it's all subjective. But to use an argument such as "Halo 2 is more realistic, which is why I think that it's better" is just ridiculous. Neither are realistic. Neither are meant to be. Praise the games as much as you want because you enjoy them more, not because they're more realistic. But I have just as much right to negatively criticize the games.

I think it should be integrated back into gameplay. I agree that it's too easy to NOT die in HALO 2 (which is nice in campaign) because if you hide behind something you can get back health which makes it a little to easy.

I don't think halo's purpose was to be realistic...

P.S. I want the pistol back too! It kicks a! And I like no fall damage.

To my liking: Halo 2

To realism: Halo 1

It just makes it convenient and easier to not have health or fall damage. But Halo was more "realistic" towards that.

Just so you know, halo 2 does have health, its just not visible and it recharges slowly over time.

They should at least show it, keeping it hidden is bogus i think.

I'd hate Halo 3 with everyone scrambling for the few health packs, and a weak enemy suddenly turning the tide with replenished health!

why would they give the chief a bio foam dispencer in halo 2
then take back the usefull invention in halo 3

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

Having health return is a dumb idea

If I get a bad gash in real life, I can heal a bit by cleaning the wound & bandaging myself. So a health pack should exist but only to heal, say, 10% of total health.

Full healing sucks. I always found health packs that take you from one bar to full health in Halo:CE to be bullcrap. It takes that extra bit of fun away from the game that comes from saying, "If I don't plan my attack, I'm going to get hurt" or "If I'm not careful, I'm going to die".

No. Health would ruin it.

Yeah, I'd like to see Health. Really, it kind of makes it a bit more skilled, because you can judge what to do and what not to do.

Please Bungie, redeem yourself w/ Reach.
Halo 2 and 3 both stink out loud.
In the immortal words of Mr Horse: Halo 2? No sir, didn't like it.

But is it more *fun* without it?

I say no, I miss

Getting killed right as I was running for a health pack (or doing the same to someone)
Stressing over jumping for that sniper on Hang em High.

Those things are what make CE so much fun compared to H2. I don't want easier or convienent in a game. I want fun. Fun is why I play games.

So please allow for visible health, health packs, and fall damage as custom options for H3 as well as 90 degree FOV and bungie will have 1 360 and 1 H3 copy sold to yours truly.

I would like to see the health bars back.
1. It was realistic
2. Required (in my opinion) a little more strategy
3.Fast charging shields exploit many tactics I used in halo 1 (grenades, assualt rifle, etc)

Shield System (Halo 2) > Health System (Halo CE)

  • 06.15.2007 9:17 PM PDT

I like Call of Duty and Gears of War, AND Halo. Why must everyone else like only one or the other?

For single player I prefer the no health system. For multiplayer I wouldn't mind if health was back, but I think no health system can be done, just not the way it was in Halo2. A no health system like Gears or Call of Duty2 would be better than Halo2's system. When you take damage you have to stay behind cover longer than just three seconds, and the more damage you take the longer you have to stay behind cover.

  • 06.15.2007 9:31 PM PDT

halo 2 and 3 basically have "invisible" health thus some odd deaths with frag nades once in awhile.

I personally agree that the health system for halo 1 is just a more interesting aspect of the game dynamics. It gives you yet another reason to move around and you had to move around way more in halo 1 games compared to halo 2/3 for different reasons including this one.
