I use to play Halo PC until I just couldn't stand the netcode where the warthogs and vehicles would lag hop around the map and you had to lead your opponent a good distance in case they disappeared and reappeared a few feet away.

Have they tweaked it enough to run fairly smoothly on a decent server? I guess the ultimate question is: Has "lag" been reduced/improved at all in the past 6 months?

Thanks!

Heyyo,

*sighs* The warping isin't as bad as it used to be but, sadly no, nothting too major... unless you get HaloCE, that has a lot less warping, thank god. The problem with that is the random leading times when shooting at someone...

I think 'random' leading times is an understatment. Sometimes sniping feels more like a game of luck, even without warping. Personally I think the sniper 'bullets' (slugs?) travel too slow. It should be: aim, head in sights, shoot, headshot. Not aim, take a wild guess at where he might be in 2 seconds, fire, cross fingers and hope he doesn't change direction...miss...cursing under breath.

If its had some improvement I might give it a try. Of course after I play a little more Halo 2 on Live and now Half-Life 2 ... god and I thought I was doing good getting out of the horrific time sink you get yourself into playing MMOs ...

What is HaloCE? Collector's Edition? How would that have a better net code than plain old Halo PC?

HaloCE is Halo Custom Edition, a free download from Gearbox (you need a CD key) which is the multiplayer version of the game with 10 time better netcode and the ability to run custom maps.
