Is there anyway to find the top 15 Biggest Groups on Bungie,

It annoys me how I can't See who as the most members and I think it would improve the Community and be more fun if you could say “Hey are group is the 5th largest group on bungie yah.”

So is there a way or a reason that you didn't make a way.

If you want to be a part of one of the greatest and most active communities in the seventh column, come here. You will thank me later.

How would it improve the community? Quality>Quantity, just some food for thought. If you want a good look at some of the more active groups on bungie.net, I suggest you go to the "group spot-light" on the community homepage. I have an idea of some of the biggest groups on bungie.net, but a top 15 list could be hard to find.

Yes - because if you could always see the top 15 largest groups, people would just keep joining them and ignore the other groups. That's why the display on the community page randomly chooses 15 groups of the largest, most active 250 groups each day to show you... that way everybody can get in the spotlight.

That is a good point. The largest groups sometimes aren't even that active. I know most of the largest groups, but that is only because I have joined a lot of groups. Have fun and check out the spotlight groups.

Yes but that dosn't have the groups that count like some i know that got to 200 members in one month and are Groing very fast and i think it is on the top 15 list (in soem group they have a VERY old Verson of the top 15 list ) but if they had a top 15 list in right next to the spotlight then that would make ppl want to want to recurit more and be more ativie and stuff like that

Ok I don't get that are you saying that if you have over 250 members and you are active you could be picked

Because if that the case why is Frankies Navy on there no one has posted in like a month and there is only ONE open topic.

I'm just saying that it would be cool if I could see were my group is and were and goal is.

If the Spotlight show the top 15 most active and random groups that would be fine but I think there should be a way to see were your group is event if it only shows your group. If you made it so that when you go the group homepage and under the Members count it show were your group was like

Member Count: 150
Group Place (or something): 539

PS Sorry about the double post

The number of people in a group means absolutely nothing. Im sure Achronos could pull up groups that have 500 members yet havent had a single post in the past 6 months. So what, its the 10th biggest group with no activity. Who cares?

Bungie.net isn't the best place to be if you want to wow people by saying "HEY EVERYBODY, IM IN A GROUP THAT HAS 2000 MEMBERS!! IM SO COOL!!!!!!"

EDIT: H2UK and Igni Ferroque are two prime examples. Both groups are probably in the top 20 membership-wise, yet both are closed. It serves no purpose.

He wasn't saying that. There is a list of the 250 largest and most active groups on the site, and a certain number are periodically picked at random to be placed on the community homepage.

It would be unfair if there were a set 15 groups to be spot-lighted all the time, because the other ones wouldn't have a chance at being publicized.

Again, it is pretty shallow to be ranking groups by member count, because I have seen plenty of 100-200 member groups which contain much more substance than some of the groups with 1000+ members.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

The Spotlight is a thing that gets chapters to work torwards something. Being in the spotlight can also recruit members. Being active can led to the spotlight but Quality>Quantity.

But how do you get in the spotlight

If your group is large and active enough, then it is put into a list of 250 chapters for display. 15 of these 250 are periodically chosen to be put on the community home-page (I don't know if this selection is random or not).

Wow, that was low. I would build Frankies Navy back up and not let it sit there and spam the B.net server.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Chapter founders has a somewhat accurate list of the top 15 groups.

It hasnt been updated in a fiew months, but the giants are still the same.

I don't know why it is there. I guess it is just there fir being one of the larger, random chapters on in the Seventh Column.

It is true that the top 15 groups aren't necessarily the most active and some of them are just the massive shells of the groups they once were. However that is not to say that a big group can't be active. Statistically only a small percentage of a large group is active but if a group has 100 members and 50 are active compare to a group that has 500 members with only 50 active in terms of active members they are the same. But the group with 500 members has more potential for activity. It really depends on the quality of there content and the uniqueness of the group whether that potential is realized or not. In respect to the quality vs. quantity argument I think both have there merits but quantity begets quality at least in my experiences.

Quantity begets activity, but activity doesn't beget quality, in my opinon. Quality comes from keeping the discussion interesting and entertaining in your forums, keeping your group regularly updated and well organized, and giving your members something to come back for.

It is true that the top 15 groups aren't necessarily the most active and some of them are just the massive shells of the groups they once were.
That can be said of pretty much all groups at this moment. The seventh column is going through some slow times. It was booming for some of last year (which is when many of the super-groups reached their peaks in activity), and should perk right back up when halo 3 comes out.
