The main problem with target tracking is it can shoot down banshes too easily and shooting banshes is so much fun but now its just a one shot fire and forget

I doubt it greatly. I bet you will be able to dodge them and so. I am guessing they only track to a certain degree. We will find ways to avoid them anyways, i bet the rocket launcher will not be the biggest way to shoot them down.

(In my opinion) Target tracking and destructible vehicles are in Halo 2 because vehicles were so powerful in the original. But now you have to weigh up the pros and cons before you hitch a ride.

Now in Halo 2 it takes more than 1 rocket to take out your vehicle. unlike the original 1 rocket kills all in Halo 1. So I think the game is still pretty mutch balenced

See, if I'm in a banshee, I'm not worried about rockets. Those I can dodge. It's the LAAG turrets. Those things will cut a banshee to ribbons.

I always post after Draerden. lol
Vehicles blow up. The pilots don't take damage. Yes, rockets track like beasts. But they probably only track vehicles, the new acceleration makes it harder to hit with a non-locked shot, and as we've seen (e3 2004) a Warthog can take like 4 rockets before it blows. Yes, you can get hit easily. But you'll still be completely undamaged and driving as well if it doesn't flip you.
Seems taken care of to me!

I bet there is a way to dodge the rockets that are tracking you. Similar to the needles from a needler, you can dodge them or run from them and they just self-destruct after a while.

It all evens out, bigger maps (more playing area) = faster vehicles (boosting: to get across more quickly) = the need for tracking (so your weapons don't fall behind the vehicles).

You have to be scoped in, you have to lock on first and they have to be at a distance in order for it to track properly, remember how much the rocket sucked at long-distance shooting? Well this fixes that.

Also you guys notice in the multiplayer demonstration, the driver was just driving in a straight line not really trying to avoid the rocket? Just think if you drive like a maniac you might not have to worry about any demolitions...just like in Halo.

Banshee's are probably the main reasons Rocket's Track in Halo 2 now...

Any decent (yes, I said decent. Not people that act stupidly like the Covenant does in singleplayer/coop) player can easilly dodge rockets when flying a banshee...

Well, in Halo2 without target tracking all you'd have to do is listen for the sound of a rocket launching and tap the boost button. Rocket DENIED. Heck, in Halo1 even I didn't fear the rocket at range. Basic psychology has resulted in my never getting hit by one except at point blank.

actually the vehicles were not effective... in halo 1 in multiplayer all you had to do was shoot at the vehicle in order to kill the person, for exaple you could just shoot the warthog wheel and ther person inside would get hurt..... Now you have to actually shoot the person in order to deal damage either that or destroy the vehicle.....
they upgraded the vehicles in this way and yet they added target tracking, good balance if you ask me

Yeah but in a vehicle you can just run people over and they die.

Try running people over that have rocket launchers...

They also noticed (and showed in one video) that running people over won't be as easy as it was in Halo 2... You'll have to be at a certain speed to kill them.

Well not only do you have to worry about rockets in the vehicles, you will also have to worry about getting boarded as you try to run someone over if you miss the first time by.

target tracking will sometimes make games unfair (depending on the map) but believe me it will help and im sure there are ways to shoot rockets down or dodge them before they hit.

Also note that the press conference part about the rocket launcher might have been turned higher then they will use in the game so you could actually see the function in their little "game".....

Same goes for destroying the ghost in that press conference... They made it die quickly so you could actually see it vehicle damage without waiting 5 to 10 minutes...
