If you want to be a part of one of the greatest and most active communities in the seventh column, come here. You will thank me later.

I couldn't find an existing thread for moderator contact information, so if there is one, then please lock this.

Basically, I think that it would be beneficial to have some kind of list of outside contact info of the moderators. MSN addresses and AIM screennames seem to be the most common ways of outside communication. I've been trying to private message moderators whenever I see unnoticed misbehavior in the forums, but I often times end up messaging mods who aren't online at the moment, and the "Find out which mod is online right now" link has stopped working.

I know that some of the forum ninjas keep their contact information in their signatures, but I think that it would be nice to have a list of other ways to access to them so they can be notified more easily.

Did you check the HFCS?

  • 05.24.2007 7:21 PM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

This might help you out. The "High Fructose Corn Syrup" (HFCS) member list. It includes all the ninjas. Just click on one of the ninjas and message them there. B.net Ninjas

This could also help:

It is kd5shw's B.net Mod Watch. It can be laggy sometimes but is very helpful. Each of the ninjas are listed in order from the most recent ninja to log on to the last. Each of the avatars is a link to that mods profile and you can message them there. kd5shw's Mod Watch

No. it is by the mods last log-in. In kd5shw's sticky here he posts a short Q&A to answer some questions. The first one is this:

So what is it?

It is a list of moderators sorted, using a program I wrote, so that the last moderator to sign on is listed first. In the same row as the listed moderator is the time they last had activity on bnet. This time is the time that bnet servers use. I believe that is UTC -8, but I could be wrong.

The kd5shw thread (stickied) had links which didn't work, but thanks for this one.

However, I made the thread with the intention of getting access to instant messaging contact information of some of the mods (if they are willing to disclose that information).

Er, then why is Jeremiah listed as logging on in April? Surely he must be on B.net all the time, seeing as he pretty much runs the stat section.

You don't really have to log on to do that. You can have complete acces to B.net, in Jerimiah's case, Stats, and still not log on. He might not have updated it either. I had one for a website I ran and the only time it showed me as "Logged on" was when I was on the site, not administrating.

Yeah, mines in my profile. Try checking the moderators profiles for msn and other contact details. If it's not in there you could simply ask them for an address.

My MSN Messanger screwed up. I have to use other methods of communication.

I'm usually nice on MSN unless you try to be hilariously random or amusing at 6:30 in the morning when I have a major assignment due in two hours and I'm NOT IN THE MOOD.

I then usually have extreme prejudice against you for the rest of the week and ignore anything you say. CHOOSE YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY.

We should probably organise an easy to find contact list. Hmm.

Why the hell are you online, using MSN at 6:30 in the morning when you have a major assigment in two hours and are NOT IN THE MOOD?

You've never been online, using MSN at 0630 with a major assignment due in 2 hours later?

Oh man, you've never lived! The sheer agony of then having a school day after being up for in excess of 30 hours is pure joy.

edit: oh yeah, forgot some actual content >.<.

On Jeremiah: He no longer works at bungie and so never logs in :P. He's still active in the community, however, and is often on IRC and other things.

I was facing a similar situation last night. I was wise enough to stay off MSN.

I can see why the moderators would not want to just throw out their MSN addresses to anyone, but I find it the most efficient. I personally have at least ten moderators I can turn to when I have a problem to report, and then PMs to resort to after that. I'm sure if you just ask most will tell you. (don't ask TGP, he has no scruples)

Pertaining to kd5shw's Mod Watch, what does a gold box signify? I've noticed that some of the moderators shown on the site will have a gold box instead of a white one around their name and avatar, does this mean that they're online at the moment?

  • 05.25.2007 4:16 PM PDT

I think it means that a ninja has posted within the last 30 minutes. It runs off of post time since the new b.net was put up.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Aside from modwatch and the HFCS member list, there is always bnetmods@gmail.com. I don't check it that often, and I don't know how often the other ninjas check it, but its another option at the very least.

Just to speed things up, here is my MSN login

evilcam@realevilcam.com

Beware, I'm much more random/playful/jerk...ish on MSN than I am here.

Actually, that is no longer true because the Bnet Profiles no longer display last login times, so now I have them going by the only time that is avaliable in the profiles.

EDIT: As as to it not always working, there's nothing I can do about that. I keep getting connection dropouts randomly throughout the day. My ISP might be trying to fix something. I dunno.
