Hey folks. I spent some time on this forums already, to figure out what would make my copy of halo2 crash to desktop after roughly 10 to 20 minutes of gameplay. Things got very frustrating at last and chances where good this one was going to land in the waste basket ;)

So, however, I'm not the person to give a long introduction to things that matter. Just wanted to tell you how I got rid of this problem. First thing I did was downloading all of the vista updates, availabe through the windows update client. You should definitely check this out first (might be advisable anyways). Second step was it to make sure it was only halo 2 that was running, therefore I deactivated all firewall/antivirus... options on BitDefender and later exited the application. But hey, BitDefender is a system hore, it continues running even after you closed it. So enter the Task Manager and close down "bndagent.exe". As a next step youll have to enter your system maintenance and shutdown all BitDefender services. Of course you might also try uninstall BitDefender, but using this method everything will be fine again after a restart.

So Halo2 runs without any problem for me now. Already played 2 hours or so :D

Hopefully this helped some of you. What made me work this out was basically a post in the "official" Halo 2 forum by a guy that said BitDefender would prevent halo2 from loading a level.

this is close to my problem but mine is far more severe. halo 2 completely crashes vista on mine after roughly 20 minutes. perhaps your advice will help.
