I agree with pretty much everything he said.

This creates some really weird and potentially unbalanced trade-offs in multiplayer. By default, a player with a mouse will be able to turn more quickly and, if that player is skilled, more accurately than a gamepad user. Gamepad players can increase the right-stick sensitivity to turn faster, but they also get another benefit that feels downright dirty. Like the console version, the PC game employs a certain amount of auto-aim when you're using a gamepad. This makes sticking to other players for up-close shotgun blasts or melee attacks significantly easier with the gamepad, and there doesn't appear to be any way to disable it or even detect that another player is using a pad. After pumping up the gamepad's sensitivity, we found ourselves doing more damage when armed with a gamepad.

Well just have to stay back and kill them with our sniper rifles, and Battle Rifles. You got to remember, people said that pretty soon they'll have BxR in a macro, lets see if the xbox360 controller can win against that. :P

The controller may have auto aim, but im pretty sure it doesn't aim for the head and that's where M/K come in, at least for me. It's headshot or I leave the game.

7 out of 10, why'd they rate it to so high? It barely hits 6 in my opinion.

If you don't need Vista, you don't need H2vista... It's a lot of money to spend on a "refreshed" 3 year old game.
If you have vista already, then by all means, go for it.
If you have a 360, there's no reason to get H2vista
If you didn't play H2 yet, this is the time to get it.

7.0 seems about right, that or a 5.0 would be acceptable.
With the delays, requirements, and the NEED to upgrade an OS, it's ridiculous...
you can easily say no as much as you can say yes to getting it.

Unfortunate that M$ always stiffs the PC users, I waited years to get Halo 2 because I couldn't get an Xbox. Now there are problems with multiplayer, and H3 won't come out for PC until maybe 2010? Just a guess.

Why did you use that smiley face in the end of your post ? ARE YOU A XBOX GAMER ?? If so then kill but if you aren't , im sorry. Anyways I'd rate it 6.5 , though , I haven't played it so I can't quite rate it but as I've heard and all the delays and stuff , it has turned out pretty bad .At first when I heard last year that Halo 2 is coming for PC I was like ' omg yeeeey ^^ ' , now im like ' wtf why did they crap the game '.Seriously , I can't get a Xbox/360 too and I've waited 2+ years for this and now they made this -blam!-y .Thats -blam!-y :(

No, that just goes to show how PC gamers really can't possible care less about Halo compared to other modern shooters on the PC and how poorly it fares in the PC platform.

Halo is still a great shooter on the PC (and xbox)...the gameplay is just as good as any other PC fps.

The rating suits it. It's old and crummy. I finished the campaign using Mouse and Keyboard, and it sucked. I used a gamepad, and besides the graphics, it just felt like old crap.

I couldn't care what any review says as I have already played h2 on the xbox for many hours and know that h2s multiplayer is the better than any other game i've ever played so far; mainly looking foward to the PCs competitive side =)

As GameSpot themselves stated quite well, the PC has more than its fair share of amazing shooters that blow Halo 2 away in every possible way.

Also the company that converted and upgraded Halo 2 to PC did a poor job, the textures are half finished, in some areas they are low and in some high, it has the same graphic bugs, there is no improvement in lightning and animation an a whole bunch of stuff you would expect from almost 3 years of difference.

Lets just hope that Halo 3 will come to PC within a year, I just can't fathom the level of stupidity needed to put Halo 3 and Halo Wars just on Xbox and not on PC!

I don't doubt that there are amazing shooters which are far superior to the Halo 2 PC release.

However, and I say this to all PC gamers, don't delude yourself into thinking PC games are anything like they were in the past. Seriously, go take a look at PC gaming over the last 5-7 years. More often than not games released for PC have been ports of console games (there are some notable exceptions such as Half-Life 2 and the entire MMORPG genre). However, unlike H2, these games are usually cross developed at the same time and come out shortly after their console brethren.

I was an avid PC gamer for two decades, but I started to realize that the games we were getting were being programmed and released first for PS2/Xbox and ported to PC more than they were being developed for PC and ported to console. Game devs have long stopped developing for PCs first. Why? Because they don't have to worry about hardware diversity. They make a game for consoles first with the fixed hardware and then they turn around and have a small team work on the PC hardware issue for the port.

PCs only get MMORPGs (and maybe Starcraft 2) before consoles these days. I'll put on my flame suit now because I know the PC gaming community doesn't want to admit this, but PC gaming has gone to crap. It's why I went from 20 years of playing PC games to being a solid console player. I can get the highly anticipated games faster than my PC gaming only friends and mine just play, as opposed to having to worry about whether the upcoming port will play nice with my video card because they didn't have a large team working on hardware diversity for the PC port.

I have to disagree. Maybe PC gaming is not like it was in the past, but I think it's still going strong. Plus, I don't think an Xbox 360 or a PS3 could run F.E.A.R. maxed out at 1600 X 1200 as well as it could on a good PC. So, what if crappy ports are poorly optimized for the PC and take more to run than it should? PCs will advance and soon they will run the games at such a high performance it will make the console versions laughable.

Also, some of us don't mind working with our PCs; some people actually like building, configuring, adding new parts, etc. Having that kind of performance and power is worth it.

i can tell why it got a pretty low score, first being that it is on a very new and costly operating system that cant run much games if they don't have updaded drivers, plus vista is slow for games as it also runs processes from xp (if you have duel boot)

second is being it *NEEDS* system requirements to actually run it, i mean i cant even run halo 2 with lowest graphics settings if my pc doesn't meet the requirements, even though it can play any other game at a very decent framerate...

3rd is because it is a pretty poor port, unlike halo 1 pc, halo 2 pc isn't changed from the xbox version that much, and still has many graphics flaws like it doesn't remember your refresh rate when you exit out of h2pc,

4th maybe, i'm not sure whats the deal with the gold/silver accounts, but do you also have to get these to play online? apart from paying $50 for this 3 year old game, you have to pay even more to play it online monthly/yearly

i think that is all, i heard that this game is very annoying to crack and play single player, dunno if thats a good or bad thing
